I was having a difficult time deciding between this hood (fits 2.7" LCD's) and the RainbowImaging 3.5" LCD Hood, because I own a Canon Vixia camcorder that has a 3" LCD. Would this 2.7" be too small, or the 3.5" too big? Suddenly it was a Goldilocks/porridge situation. I took a chance and bought this one and, despite the fact that the photo (at the lead of this page) shows it a poor fit over a 3" LCD, it does, in fact fit and has just enough room to accommodate the actual LCD panel without blocking any part of it. Yes, the frame enclosure around the Canon LCD panel does stick out beyond the hood (just like the photo shows), but it doesn't affect the functionality, and the appearance looks just fine. I can only speculate that the 3.5" LCD Hood may have been too loose and, perhaps, slid all over the place. Anyhow, thumbs up for this LCD Hood by Cowboy Studio. It's rugged, well stitched leatherette over (I'm guessing) some stiff, thick cardboard, with super strong velcro holding the flap in place. It stays snug on the LCD panel, yet can slide off if you choose, or unclasp the velcro and take it off that way. Btw, I had it, along with several other Amazon items, shipped with "FREE Super Saver Shipping" (a 5-8 day wait) and the entire purchase arrived by UPS on day 5, all packed/boxed quite well with no problems and no shipping charges!

I got this LCD hood for my Canon 60D. It worked out great! I use it 90% of the time when I shoot video. It works very well for stopping glare. I even use it inside too. This makes a great addition to any LCD viewer. I highly recommend it to anyone who does video work.

I took a chance that this LCD hood would fit my sony CX-150 since it calls out 2.7" LCD hood.
Well, no problem. It is a bit loose up and down but it is not going to fall off. nice and snug. Works great and would recommend it to anyone. Looks cool on the camera. If your in doubt the measurement for the fit to the LCD looks to be 3/8-1/2" x 2"ish by of course 2.75" width. Hope this helps.

Wasn't sure what to expect since it's about 1/3 the canon name brand hood; but then again, it's a hood and I wasn't too concerned about it. For $8 this is a fantastic hood! It's probably the same one as the canon name brand, except it has JJC branded into it rather than Canon. Leather/Pleather exterior with a nice velvet cloth interior. Whatever cardboard is in between the materials to hold the form is pretty sturdy. Fits very snug around my camcorder LCD screen. Been tugging on the two folding flaps to try and get some stretch to make it a little looser, so far seems to be working very well and it's not in danger of tearing. Doesn't block any of the screen or the set and function buttons on the side. However, it will render the pause/play, stop, playlist, and rec/playback buttons on the bottom useless. The only one of those I use is the rec/playback switch button, and that's just to check if I need to reshoot a scene or something. If you use the remote, then it's not an issue. Great for shooting outdoors.

Only real con is the shipping was almost as much as the product.

I was skeptical about this fitting the OLED on the gh3 but I took a gamble and it turned out to be a perfect fit. Does the job perfectly and does not weigh down the screen like other eye pieces can, causing it to rotate down due to the weight of the eye piece.

Great simple product.LCD Hood for Canon DSLR by Cowboystudio

I purchased this hood for my Canon Rebel T3i. I bought it because another reviewer raved about using it on his 60D, which has the same size LCD. But the hood is 2.7" not 3" and while it just clears the LCD screen if carefully placed, it does not wrap well on the back.

I purchased this to use with my Panasonic HCV700 and it works fine, despite my LCD being 3". The LCD hood will now make it possible to use my camera outdoors in strong sunlight. Without this hood my LCD display is basically useless in those conditions!

If you hold the LCD/hood close to your eyes, it has almost the effect of a large viewfinder, and you can shade out even more sunlight. As for the fit - the edges of the hood line up with the actual screen, but the hood is narrower (1/4" on each side) that my LCD door. Also, because my unit is slightly taller, the Velcro flap does not lay perfectly flat against the back of the panel.

The size issue is tolerable@the low price of 7 dollars - but if you are a perfectionist, you can get an actual 3" size hood. The competeing unit listed on Amazon as made for 3" screen, costs more than double at this time!

Great product, and great price. I will post a photo shortly.

I bought this for my new Panasonic camcorder and it does exactly what it is supposed to do.

Pros:
Functional - completely eliminates glare (the same method TV Broadcast Studio cameras use)
Portable - small enough to take negligible space in your bag
Elegant - It has a faux leather finish that looks far nicer than expected for a sub-ten dollar purchase

Cons:
Didn't need it as much as I thought. So, this isn't really that the product works poorly (hence I still gave it 5 stars), but at least my camera worked quite well in sunny conditions without it. I can see it would be useful at a beach, lake or reflective area, but consider whether you need a device like this. If you do, this is a great choice, but make sure your use case actually demands it.

Summary:
It works perfectly and is priced well, but with many cameras & use cases it may not be necessary.

I bought this to shade the screens on my Canon 60D and T3i when I am shooting outdoors.

It is going to work, but it takes some fiddling to get it on correctly. The product is well constructed, but the padded flaps on the back make it difficult to attach on a variety of screens. Plain velcro straps would have worked better.

This does not fold up in any way, so it is rather bulky when not attached to the camera. Not something I can leave in my camera bag since it takes up as much space as a prime lens.

The ship time was a bit long, but worth the wait. As you can see in the photo this produst is slanted so it is perfect for touch screens. I was worried about the sun getting through but nope, I can see the screen perfectly and even lower the lighting on the screen to conserve battery life. It doesn't make the camera too bulky and it is easy to remove and put on. Overall a great product and exactly what I was looking for. I bought it for my Canon Vixia HF M40
