Unlike the other reviewer, I had no problem getting the product in the mail (I did standard shipping). I used this kit to test my daughter's toys and costume jewelry. It worked great! I recommend that when using the leaching method (soaking the item in vinegar) that you leave the item soaking for 24 hours (as stated in instructions as the prefered method). The instructions stated to soak an item at least 4 hours - but I noticed that you get a much stronger reading when soaking for 24 hours. The quick test method of rubbing the test item directly with the solution worked well too. I also recommend that if you are testing a large number of items (I did over 100) to test items in a well ventilated space (I set up my "lab" in the garage). The smell of vinegar and sulfer can get to be too much in a closed space. I chose this product for its diversity in testing methods. After reading about all the toy recalls for lead paint and about children dying from lead poisoning after swallowing a charm from a bracelet(that was 99% lead!!!), I went through the house and cleared out lead toys and jewelry with the aid of this test kit. It provided me peace of mind. The toy companies should reimburse for the lead test kits after they placed our children at risk so that CEOs could make greater profits!!!!

I ordered my test kit on July 1 and finally recieved it on July 26. It contains a small bottle of clear substance with no indication of what it is, 50 Q-tips and a small plastic test tube. Like the lawthat requires it this test kit is a joke.

Abotex is not a reliable company you want to do business with. I ordered a 24-sample test kit but was only given enough testing solution for 16 tests (I am a scientist and I did the testing very carefully). I've written several letters to the company and have never once received a reply. As far as I can tell Abotex is run out of somebody's garage with no guarantees whatsoever.

I ordered two of these kits on December 16, 2007 from Abotex Enterprises (a Canadian company) and paid for priority shipping, which promised a tracking number. I had not received them by Jan. 3, 2008, so I called the number on the receipt. I was told the kits were shipped on Dec. 18 and was given a tracking number for "Express Post", which is a Canadian shipper. At the website for that entity, I entered the tracking number and was informed that the shipment had reached the "destination country" on Dec. 19 but nothing further. Most of the links for customer service from that point lead to 404 error pages. I finally found a link for sending a request for the status of my shipment. I have no response yet. Abotex Enterprises could use UPS or FedEx for shipments to the U.S. but will not do it. I have no idea how to locate the shipment at this point. I strongly suggest that anyone in the U.S. avoid this product altogether.
