Perfect place to start if you are just starting to learn to play music or bass. I like the fact that these are rifts of the songs that you can practice. The cd is just the bass which right now for me is perfect, because i need to now if what i'm playing is what it is suppost to sound like. which can be difficult to do if all the instruments are being played at the same time.

If you do not know ANYthing about playing bass, this book is great. It teaches you how to hold it, the names of the strings, rhythm, reading music, and scales (mostly pentatonic minor and blues). And to do that, the book provides only "riffs" from Metallica (many of which consist of a single note). It's a great place to start, especially if you don't want to practice Hot Cross Buns a hundred times. However, if you have any understanding of the instrument to begin with, the book will be mostly useless... The play-along CD is pretty good.

Great learning material to learn to play starting bass techniques and licks. Everything with metallicas's music. Very nice.

This book is great! When I bought it, I didnt realize that it came with a cd that goes along with every lesson/song.
