Before ordering this product, I went to several big box stores, a national chain that sells Swedish goods (wink wink) and even a high priced, specialty lighting store in town and couldn't find what I was looking for. Then I found this backlight kit on amazon.com.

I am *very* pleased with this LED backlight kit. It's the ONLY LED backlight kit I've found (regardless of price) that is perfectly calibrated at 6500K for full spectrum (white) light. The others, including the LED strip from the Swedish national chain, is silent about the color temperature. A BIG red flag in my book. If you're serious about having a backlight, do it right, order this product. Plus it's cheaper than that aforementioned store and so much better.

I have a 60" plasma and I was worried it wouldn't work for me (since it only goes up to 57") but for those who have a 60" hdtv, rest assured, it's perfect and gives the right amount of light for viewing in the dark. Order it, you wont disappointed. I wish I had another HDTV so I can order this product again. It's THAT good!!!

Lastly, one reviewer said a 36" led light strip shouldn't cost this much. Well, I have to politely disagree. This product is rated for 100,000 hours. So that's about 8 hours a day for the next THIRTY years! Or about $1 per year. I'd say that's quite a bargain! Plus it only uses 1 watt of power so it's like a night light. Also, everything you need is in the kit and it's in the little details where this product shines. The hooks, the cords, and brackets all work and it's so easy to install.

I was up and running within 5 minutes of opening the package. This product doesn't look like much in the daytime, but when the lights go out and you put a movie in, WHOA! It's magic! Trust me, order it. Then you'll understand. I highly recommend. Save yourself the hassle of going to all the big box stores, lighting stores and that Swedish place, since most don't sell products like this and the few that do can't beat this product in terms of price or performance.

I read in one of my home theater magazines that backlighting is recommended to improve the contrast of LCD and plasma flat screen TVs. The magazine was correct. Backlighting does improve contrast and lessen eye fatigue. This LCD kit is very easy to apply to the back of the screen; the white light is soft and sufficiently bright. The only thing this kit lacks is a timer to control the lighting automatically. Otherwise, the kit is highly recommended. Shipping was very fast.

I recently calibrated my 58in Panny Viera HDTV with a colorimeter and was able to dial-in grayscale and gamma to produce ~6500k whites. After purchasing and installing this backlight (took like 5 minutes), it works brilliantly to match at 6500k. I have a layered dark gray painted wall behind my set-up so the back light is somewhat absorbed, providing the perfect glow behind the TV without being off-putting. Once you install, give it like an hour of viewing and you will not only be acclimated to the back light, but you will love the effect on your visuals and reduction in eye strain. I do wonder if you put this backlight on an uncalibrated TV what the result would be. Would your eyes be strained further to deal with the dissonance between the TV output and the light output? Unknown to me. I don't see any sellers explaining this in their marketing, but you may be less than dazzled if you simply install this on an HDTV without calibrating it.

Bias lighting behind a set can help your viewing environment a lot. For one it reduces eyestrain since it balances the room lighting better and you're eyes will no longer be "bugging out" trying to see. Additionally, it improves perceived contrast and black level so this can improve your picture quality some, especially if your set isn't exactly the highest quality out there.

Now on to this specific product. I would say it's good, but it's a bit harsh out of the box. If you normally dial down the brightness on your TV, make sure to use a dimmer on the backlight so you can match levels (and avoid it appearing overly-bright/harsh). Other than that good product, and has seemed to hold up well. It comes with adhesive strips to attach to the back of your TV so that's one thing you don't need to worry about. I believe there's also an optional remote control accessory you can buy for this, but I didn't bother with it.

This product is exactly what I was looking for. I used to have a Philips tv with the Ambilight technology, and I quickly got used to having the backlight. After purchasing a new TV, I just couldn't stand not having the backlight. This product solved the problem. It is a little bit expensive (a 36" string of LEDs should not cost this much), but I had to have it to make my new TV bearable.

I like the LED light strip but plan on ordering twice what you think you need to really do the job right. I ordered the recommended amount for my TV but found that i still strained my eye's because the LED strip didnt give off enough light. I ordered the same amount again and now things are just right. Would give the product 5 stars but have to knock it down due to the recommended strip length just not doing the job.

After using an expensive florescent product from another company for 3 years when that bulb burned out earlier than expected I thought I would look elsewhere and found this a fraction of the cost of the other. It certainly does match the proper 6500K and overall I think it provides a better effect. Would definately recommend.

These lights take a pitch black room and add a halo effect to the rear of the TV that vastly improves contrast and creates a visual feast for the eyes when paired with a properly calibrated HD viewing source.

Don't hesitate. Get these lights.

I was worried they wouldn't be bright enough after reading reviews of some other TV backlighting systems. Then I saw a couple reviews on these that stated they wished they had come with a dimmer. Well, they are perfect for my wall mounted 55" LCD TV. Some stated they did not work with a UPS, but they work fine plugged into my APC-UPS. They come with a 3' strip of LEDs with a backing you can peel off to reveal an adhesive along the entire length of the strip. They also come with a set of four clips that you can stick to the back of the TV and then just slide the LED strip into the clips if you don't want to stick the strip directly to the TV. Then, they come with a nice rocker switch that also sticks to the back of the TV, a cord that plugs into either end of the LED strip and the switch and a power cord that has a small transformer (small enough to not block the outlet next the one it's plugged into) at the plug end and also plugs into the rocker switch.

Use the advice in the instructions to first install them with tape, so you can move them around until you get the correct effect for your room. The look a lot better on the bottom of my TV, shinning on the red wall than they do shinning on the white ceiling. My TV is mounted on the wall just a few inches from the ceiling.

I've purchased a number of "upgrades" for my aging LCD rear projector over the years, but few have provided such great "bang for the buck" as this LED bias lighting kit. With my viewing room darkened, the effect is dramatic AND highly effective. I'm noticing reduced eye strain, and perceived contrast seems to be improved (albeit slightly).

Installing this kit couldn't be easier. The LED light strip is backed with a strong adhesive that holds securely, and the strip itself is easy to place and manipulate (even along my set's curved back). The included wiring and power switch are plenty adequate - all were easy to conceal, and the manufacturer includes adhesive-backed wire clips to aid in keeping the wires out of sight.

The only nitpick I have so far is that the product doesn't seem to function unless it's plugged directly into an AC wall outlet - it refused to power up when I first plugged it in to my rack-mounted power center/surge protector. The manufacturer states as much on their website, however, so this didn't come as too much of a surprise. It will work just fine when attached to a basic household extension cord - only surge protectors seem to present a problem.

The only other improvement that might benefit this product would be some sort of an IR-controllable switch, though for the price, I'm not complaining. It should prove relatively simple to add such functionality with a third-party solution. Installing this kit shouldn't take you more than five minutes, and the results will be both substantial and immediate. I recommend it heartily.
