I was thrilled when I got it worked up to it's promise. How ever the ring that held it to the swivel that connects to the key chain ring broke twice so i teded it on wihth nylon corde and it still fell off and the third time it went MIA. Never got a chance to put it in serious use.

I actually bought this to keep on my keychain so that I would be able to use it in stores to shine on clothes and other items to see if they were blacklight reactive. I'm into the electronic music scene, and yes, blacklight reactive clothing looks cool in the club, but sometimes it's hard to tell if those white stripes will glow under blacklight when you're in the harsh flourescent lighting of the dressing room. I got the item in reasonable time and it came in the package exactly as shown. The first time I used it for any real purpose, however, was to shine on my carpet not long after because my kitty was having urinary problems and I could smell cat pee in my apartment. Turned off the lights, turned on the UV Tracker keychain and started searching: sure enough, the tell-tale glowing splotch of cat pee on the carpet. So it worked for detecting that. I then attached it to my keychain and carried it around with me- used it a few times in stores for the original purpose I got it for, and again, the light worked fine (although it does have to be pretty dark in order for the UV light to show anything- I usually accomplished this by shading the article of clothing under my jacket and shining the keychain underneath; that looks a little suspicious so that's why I'd do it in the dressing room). So for about 3 months I was very happy with my purchase. Until one of the metal clasps on the keychain part broke, and I almost lost the light as a result. So now it sits on my desk at home; I guess I could just carry it in my purse, but I don't like to carry a ton of stuff in my purse. I could jerry-rig the chain, but I haven't gotten around to it. The light still works fine, and it looks like a simple matter of unscrewing it with an eyeglasses repair screwdriver when it comes time to change the battery. I haven't had to do this yet as the battery still works (then again, I'm not using it as much as I had planned), but the thing is small enough that it looks like a small watch battery will do. So two stars deducted for almost losing it as a result of a low-quality chain, and the fact that the light works but is not very powerful.
