From the Manufacturer

The Coast LED Lenser H7 Focusing Headlamp is the only headlamp available with both adjustable focus and light dimming function. The H7 can be adjusted from a wide flood beam to a focused spot beam, with no dark and hot spots typically associated with focusing flashlights and headlamps. Variable Light Output Technology (VLT) enables the user to adjust the light output to suit the task, with a constant transition from maximum output to minimum output.

I've owned an H7 for over a year now. Quite pleased with it. There are brighter LED headlamps available, but it's throw is quite impressive and I think you'll find it's run time is unparalleled among it's 3xAAA peers, allowing it to be bright but light(weight). Gives a nice, clean white light. The strap is comfortable, and very adjustable. The Lamp head has a 4-stage, 90 degree vertical swivel transition that allows light to be directed up and forwards, straight ahead, in-front and down, or straight down. The dimmer switch comes in handy- you can dim it down if you need to read something up close or look at something you're holding. And the beam is focusable - goes from a nice, fairly broad circle (flood) to a spot that looks like a square with rounded corners. Again, the light is white, which allows for very easy color recognition. For normal operations, to turn it on, adjust the swivel angle and/or the beam focus only one hand is needed. All those controls are on the head which rests on your forehead. The dimmer switch/AAA battery pack rests on the back of the head and is light and easy to adjust. The H7 also comes with a nice, small pouch that it just fits inside. The pouch is made of wet-suit-type material (nice and strong and soft) and opens/closes with a single velcro tab. I'd give this product a solid 4 stars out of 5.

I was searching for a brighter LED headlamp for hunting use. I hate not being able to see well when making my way to my deer stand in the mornings, or when finding my way out in the evenings. I have tried several other brands and styles of headlamps, then I found this. My GOD Is this thing bright! Battery life is great, although I do wish that it used AA instead of AAA batteries. The adjustable spot to flood is a great feature. I found that a setting inbetween the 2 was the best for my usage. The dimmer is a nice touch as well, although one I won't use much. For the money this light is going to be hard to beat. There are brighter ones out there for 4x the price...give this one a shot. You won't regret it.

This headlamp has the most powerful beam I've encountered. With a variable intensity beam that can be easily changed from spot to wide angle this headlamp is the best I've owned and well worth the cost.

I am a home inspector by profession and a good light source is probably my most essential tool. I have been using this headlamp for many months now and am generally very happy with it. The light output is excellent and I like the full range of adjustment. I also like the beam focusing feature though I almost always use the narrow beam setting. I have, nonetheless, had some problems with the lamp. The copper strands in the power wire broke after a while either from movement or, more likely, from being pinched by the action of the angle adjustment hinge. Fortunately I was able to repair the wire but it still leaves me with a nagging doubt of its reliability when I'm working in difficult situations. I have also found that the light switch seems susceptible to malfunction in high moisture environments which includes perspiring in hot working conditions. The on/off switch almost always fails to operate properly in these circumstances. The light will often not turn off unless I find a way to take it away from moisture for a while. I love this light but I'm still looking for an absolutely bullet-proof product.

Looks a well made product, comes in handy pouch, just be careful of the zooming nub,it's screwed in, mine worked loose and I could have lost it,make sure it's tight.Good bright versatile headlight.

I have been doing preventative maintenance in a manufacturing facility during non production hours. Climbing all over and under equipment, getting into the deep dark places nobody else goes. I had a cheap clip-on light for my hard hat to help me see down between sprockets and into small holes where the set screws hide. The clip-on light just wasn't enough. I have found the Coast LED Lenser 7497 to be just what I needed. It's hinge allows me to aim the light beam just where I need it. The dimming function allows me to have just the right amount of light I need whether I'm working close up or at arm's length. The flood to spot adjustments allows me to see up into the ceiling areas to inspect sprinkler lines or use a wider beam while I'm walking around the plant site in the middle of the night.
It works great if you want to read a book in a darkened room, just turn down the intensity, aim the beam at the book and adjust the focal range to fit the page, the perfect book light.
Have you ever been working under the hood of your car or truck and need a little extra light to see down into the shaded areas, this light will work great for you.
You just won't believe how bright this little light is when on it's highest setting. I am totally happy with it.

We've been running sled dogs at night since 2002, and until last year were unable to find a bright headlamp that's lightweight, with good battery life. The H7 Lenser is bright enough to see the entire 14-dog team clearly, and the details of the trail ahead. The adjustable focus and dimmer allow customization of the light area and intensity which is necessary at times. Last winter my daughter ran a 90-mile night-time race, each leg took her about 5 hours. Coming into the midway checkpoint at 1 am, her light was as bright as it was at the beginning of the race. Incredible power utilization for that brightness. We changed the 3-AAA batteries at the midpoint, but probably wouldn't have had to. I recommend it to all my mushing friends.
