this is the LED you want,

This review is from: 5x1 Watt CREE LED 110 Standard Screw Base Light bulb
Purchased must've been 100 led bulbs over the years, all of them not-read-for-prime-time. Finally read up on these, bought a few, adding more each year. Gorgeous light, not too white/blueish, excellent performance as measured by my Kill-A-Watt. They are pricey, but getting better. Highest recommendation.

Good for certain applications. Bad for others.,
This review is from: 5x1 Watt Cree LED 110 Standard Screw Base Light Bulb, White 1004wh
This bulb does seem to put out just as much light as a 50w incandescent bulb. However, were as an incandescent bulb broadcast the light at almost 360 degrees, this bulb only seems to broadcast light at a little more than 180 dregrees. The bulb works well in ceiling flush mounted applications, were the light will be broadcasted down and out to the side. But the light performs horribly in a table lamp were a full 360 degree broadcast is prefered. The color of the light is a soft white, and not the warm yellowish color of the incandescent. But it is not the typical bright white to almost blue color of most led bulbs.

I purchased this in March 2011 and have been using it on a daily basis ever since I received it. I use it in a goose-neck lamp that is beside my bed. I was only willing to spend the extra money for this bulb after reading the various opinions and reviews of the technology elsewhere. I was not concerned about it's ability, or lack thereof, to light a room. My usage was for a reading lamp that I also use in the morning when I wake up.
In the past I've tried both old school incandescent bulbs and compact florescent bulbs, both produced ample light, but neither last very long and heat (w/incandescent's) are a problem. The 5x1 Watt CREE LED 110 hasn't disappointed me in any respect. I know that LED bulbs are a bit pricey, but think of all the storage space and time saved by not doing the replacement & not shopping for bulbs. I need a new basement bulb. It's located about 12 feet above me, so a long lasting LED might just be the answer. 2115|R2HWK17UV4FJGV;2115|R3H7EAUIC0D5OB;2115|R16IB1PU9POUOY;
