I've tried a number of LED lights- some good, some bad. This one has a highly polished mirrored back and is built almost like a projector lamp. I put it in a high hat fixture above my desk and it illuminates it very brightly... hard to believe it's only 12 Watts. If it were an incandescent I'd assume it was a 75W bulb. It goes on almost instantly, much quicker than other LED's and CFL I've purchased. As for color temperature, it gives off a robust soft-white to warm white color which is very pleasant.

A couple of things to keep in mind

1) It's not a diffusion light -but more of a spotlight. Good for illuminating wall art, directed reading, etc. but not for illuminating a room.

2) The face and front edge of the bulb is not curved like most lamps, if you use one of those telescoping bulb grabbers (used for high fixtures) you may have a hard time getting the grip around this bulb. You can use a suction holder, but as the bulb is very heavy & over $100, changing the bulb can be a precarious task.

Otherwise it's a great bulb so far (hopefully it will last a good long time). Am looking forward to when such bulbs will become much more affordable in price.

I have bought this lamp for my friend, and presented it together with my daughter's hand-made copy of Jack Vettriano(a couple, dancing Tango under umbrella). The result was just perfect! This lamp extraodinary underlines and even unveils all the colors on the picture, especially RED part of spectrum (red dress of the lady from the picture). Perfect! Just perfect! My friend is really happy with both Painting, and the Lamp. If you need good light for your precious gallery - do not think, go for it!

Alex.

Great color rendering. Even illumination within a fairly narrow beam. Color temp matches incandescents. Good looking: you can't see the LEDs themselves. An outstanding lamp, but undeniably pricey.
