3.0 out of 5 stars Not exactly as described, but adequate for the purpose
I bought two of these lights (if you only need one, at this writing the same two sellers offer these lights singly: Wireless Motion Sensor Light - 10 Super-Bright LED - Install Anywhere in 30 Seconds!). While not precisely as described, they get the job done (or at least have so far).

1 reviewer is mistaken. It clearly states that it will be activated by motion and heat. It is NOT photo activated. I did buy another product from a different vendor that cost a bit more that IS motion and Photo (will not turn on during daylight)sensitive. My experience (I bought a total of 4 lights)with this 2 pack 10 LED light has been fantastic. It is perfect for garages and closets. They have been in operation for a month now and are working perfectly with no indication of battery drain. I am buying another set today. If you need a light that is Photo and Motion activated, expect to pay about 10 dollars more for ONE light.

I bought two of these lights (if you only need one, at this writing the same two sellers offer these lights singly: Wireless Motion Sensor Light - 10 Super-Bright LED - Install Anywhere in 30 Seconds!). While not precisely as described, they get the job done (or at least have so far).

Pluses: bright light from the 10 LEDs, low drain on batteries, no wiring needed.

Minuses: in my experience, the sensor range is much less than the description states (I figure three to four feet); seem to be cheaply made (in China, if that matters to you); the three-position switch (off/constant-on/motion-sense) seems cheap and is positioned such that it's hard to move, which may or may not be an issue for you (if you're leaving it permanently set to sense motion, it won't matter); in one of my two units, the three-position switch was wired backward relative to the labeling, an indication of poor quality control; as other reviewers have noted, (1) there is no "daylight off" function (except to move the three-position switch to off, which is a nuisance), and (2) there doesn't seem to be any heat sensing.

All in all, not a purchase I'm sorry I made. For my use, they're adequate. For some, the negatives may outweigh the good price.

5.0 out of 5 stars Great under stairs light!!!, May 8, 2009
This review is from: 10 LED Wireless Motion Sensor Light - 2 Pack (Misc.)
Perfect for when you do not have a plug or existing light available. Used them in the closet(pantry) under the stairs and they light up enough for me to find what I need. They turn on with motion and turn off after about 30 seconds of no motion. It is not advertised as being photo sensitive as one reviewer said. These lights are wonderful...am buying another set.

1.0 out of 5 stars They Do Not Work as Advertised, March 3, 2010

So far I have tried three out of the four of these lights I purchased and not one of them has worked correctly. The first on started off well, sensing movement from about eight feet away; however, within days, the distance was down to 1-2 feet!!! After less than two weeks, it quit working completely! The second light never sensed movement more than four feet away (down to 1-2 feet now). The third one has the same sensing ability but includes the additional feature of turning itself on without ANY movement in the area. Just to test it, I placed it in a closet and the same thing continues to occur. This is an easy recommendation, "Don't waste your money."

1.0 out of 5 stars Look elsewhere quality control is very poor, November 1, 2010
This review is from: 10 LED Wireless Motion Sensor Light - 2 Pack (Misc.)
These lights seemed like a decent idea. They are bright, but lack a night-time sensor. This means they will turn on any time of day if motion is sensed, or, at least in theory.

I purchased three of these lights and one just stays on all the time as if I have it in on (not auto ) mode. Sometimes this light just stays off. I have not even bothered to open the third light.

The build quality of this light is poor so I would suggest going for a different brand.

2.0 out of 5 stars Not as described - no photo/light detection (turns on even during daylight), February 8, 2011

Not as described and needed for my application - no photo/light detection...turns on even during full daylight, which is a waste of battery and will cost you in the long run.

1.0 out of 5 stars Battery hog!, February 16, 2011

I purchased these because of the good rating, but when I installed one in my closet using eneloop batteries, the light ran out of power within one day! I tried again after recharging the batteries and with a different set of batteries with the same result. Either the light was coming on randomly for long periods of time while I was out of the house, or it was draining them some other way. The sensor seems to work fine outside of the closet, so, I don't know why they drain battery power so quickly.

I should have read the other reviews. The service from DBroth is good, but the light only senses motion, not darkness--so it comes on even at high noon. I think it would work fine indoors but outside it is a battery-eater!

I bought 4 of these units (two 2-packs). The settings are supposed to be "off," "on" and "motion controlled". In one of them, the motion controlled setting produces a dimmer light (about half strenght or less), and in the other, it usually does not light up at all. I opened the faulty one to see if I could spot the problem, and it is evident that the internal wiring and switch are about as cheap and flimsy as they could make it. And, while having just the on/off choices may sound fine, the switch is on the back, so that it has to be taken down to change the settings. If you plan to install this on a ceiling, be aware that the units are designed for hanging on a flat-head screw on a wall, and it will be difficutl to install on a ceiling. You would not want to stick it on with anything permanent, because the settings and battery access require removal. I installed two of these over a kitchen sink that needed a bit of extra light. It helps brighted the area, but is certainly not enough light to work with (other than, say, to get a glass of water at night) without having the main kitchen light on. It doesn't quite seem as much light as I would have expected from 10 LEDs though. Overall, the two units that work properly do come on with motion, do so reliably, and do cast enough light to significanlty improve the area.

this was is one of my best ideas that was relatively easily solved. i thot about putting a 120 volt light with a switch, but really all that was needed was a little light on the key place on my door, and only when I was there.
