3.0 out of 5 stars More yellow than warm white
These LED tubes are supposedly warm white, but the truth is they are rather yellow. Now, I will find a plce for them so I am keeping them. If you are looking for a nice warm (yellowish) light to ad some atmosphere in your living room, these can be great, e.g. in a lightbox behind a couch or over the cornices. They are too yellow for my kitchen or laundry room.

4.0 out of 5 stars good replacement but expensive, August 31, 2010

This review is from: 20 watt LED T8 T10 Tube for 48" 4FT fluorescent replacement, no ballast no UV & IR white By Ledwholesalers, 2043WH (Misc.)
I had a florescent fixture with two tubes that didn't work. The bulbs were about 10 years old and the ballast, which failed, was older. Rather than replace the bulbs and ballast I decided to give these LED tubes a try. They work and provide a comparable amount of light. The light is cooler and not greenish like many florescent lights. I personally like the quality of the light. To me it feels more like day light. These tubes fit the standard fixture but you must remove the ballast and wire directly to your household wire. All the wires going to one side of the fixture (one end of the tubes), is wired to the black wire (hot) and the other wires to the other end of the tubes is connected to the white wire. I cut the wires coming out of the balast (yellow on the left end and blue and red on the right end). TURN OFF the current to the fixture at the circuit box. It isn't worth electrocuting yourself to save energy. The wiring is easy but the reason I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 is that this requires more than just removing old tubes and putting these in their place. For some people, the wiring part may be daunting.

Assuming these bulbs are dependable, they seem like a very decent option. The cost of electricity in my case is about half of the bulbs they replaced but that will take many years to recoup the original sixty dollar price of each bulb. I must admit that I did it because I prefer the quality of the light and didn't like the interference of the ballast/florescent bulbs on my radio and sound system.

Addendum: of four tubes, one was dead on arrival. Waiting for replacement.

4.0 out of 5 stars Long Start time, November 29, 2010

Although these lights are more energy efficient and give off a nice glow, the ones I received require approx 10 seconds to turn on. Much longer than a standard fluorescent tube. Rather annoying to flip the switch and wait and wait for the lights to turn on before I can enter a dark room. After emailing the manufacturer
with this question their only response was that it could be the updated power supply they have changed to. The description, however, states "instant on".
In some situations the delay probably wouldn't be an issue. So I am giving only 4 stars.

This is a very cool looking T-8 replacement unit. Most T-8 LEDs have an array of surface mount LEDs. This one has 20 1-watt LEDs and a heavy-duty heat sink. It looks and feels like a very high quality unit.

It didn't come with "instructions", just a wiring diagram on the label on back. Neutral to the two pins on one side, line to the two on the other side. It took me maybe five minutes to disassemble the fixture, remove the ballast and splice wires appropriately. Reassemble, insert the bulb and turn on the lights.

The weird part is that it takes a bit of time to start. About three seconds to begin, and another 0.5 or so to fade all the way up. Which is faster than some of the fluorescents when they're cold, but slower than many of mine. But it looks soooo coool. And puts out a good amount of light.

4.0 out of 5 stars 2043WW, September 25, 2011

I'm only a couple days using this tube but pleased so far by performance. I bought one to test and am satisfied enough to put 3 more in the cart. I was concerned about heat but not a problem. Output is good, warm white is my preferred color, (wife says cool white makes her look like a zombie), only reason not 5 stars is price but hey all led products pricey. I've wasted a lot of money on more frivolous things. Gave some money to a dem congress critter--please forgive me. Am waiting for the company called "Switch" to produce really high powered led tubes, they are using some mysterious fluid to act as a heat sink in their bulbs, therefore able to use super ultra bright leds.

I ordered a LED light that goes into a fluorescent fixture. You have to take out the ballast and wire the ends directly to 120VAC. One LED bulb is as bright as two t-8 bulbs! That is the first LED I bought that actually worked better than the traditional lighting that was being replaced. The price is comparable to buying a florescent fixture, and then you still would have to get bulbs for it too.

5.0 out of 5 stars Happy Lighting, January 14, 2012
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I purchased a dozen of these bulbs for the common area in my church and I must say they are great! The ceiling is quite high and hard to access, so if these bulbs last as long as they say they should, I won't have to get back up there for another 15 yrs! Plus every LED on every bulb worked at the get go and continue to work about 3 weeks after the install. I purchased the warm bulbs which was a perfect choice as they match the light quality of the remaining florescent tubes (we only replaced half the lighting with the LED tube replacements). I would recommend these lights to anyone and will try to update this review in a year or so. Let's hope they continue to perform as beautifully.

5.0 out of 5 stars A good lighting option, December 13, 2011
Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
I replaced the fluorescent tube and ballast in the single tube, under-cabinet light in my kitchen with this device.
The old setup used 33 watts and produced 17 footcandles of light as measured on the counter surface below the cabinet at about 16 inches. The LED tube uses 17 watts and produces 20 footcandles. The warm white color is comparable to the warm white fluorescent tube. I'm pleasantly surprised by the upgrade. Eliminating the ballast is easy and wiring in the LED tube setup is simple - neutral wire on one end and the hot wire on the other.

Does anyone know if these will work with a dimmer ?
If they do, it seems like a pretty good product.
