I just took and passed the LEED AP exam. The LEED AP Exam Guide was an invaluable resource. It brings the many facts you have to know in order to pass the exam together in a very straight forward format. It's easy to read and contains lots of memorization hints that helped me with the actual exam.

I bought this book and 4 weeks later passed my LEED Test with flying colors. Over all the book is good because it keeps things simple and to the point. Highly recommend to be used with the LEED NC 2.2 referance book.

Great Study Tool,
This review is from: LEED AP Exam Guide: Study Materials, Sample Questions, Mock Exam, Building LEED Certification (LEED-NC) and Going Green (Paperback)
I think the author has achieved the goal of producing a concise study tool that can also be used as a handy reference for LEED requirements for those already familiar with LEED. He does a great job of breaking down each credit to the basic information that is important for those studying for the AP exam. The sample questions and mock exam are especially helpful as they are very accurate to what my experience with the exam was. Also, the references that are given in chapter 4 and how they are related to LEED credits is great, not only for those studying for LEED but also for people practicing. The intro and explanation of the LEED process is accurate and helpful to those new to the process. I would also encourage people to use the USGBC site to become familiar with the LEED letter templates that are used with the LEED Online process for registration. This may not help prepare for an exam as much, but will help those unfamiliar to understand the process and presents the information about the credits in a different format that may be useful to some learners.
One concern would be that the LEED AP exam will be updated fairly soon and so this will have to be updated for the new requirements, but I agree with his suggestion that encourages people to test under v.2.2 before the update. I definitely think that anyone who reads and studies this book has a good chance of passing the exam especially with some background experience/knowledge of general green building information.

More Than Just A Great LEED Exam Guide,
This review is from: LEED AP Exam Guide: Study Materials, Sample Questions, Mock Exam, Building LEED Certification (LEED-NC) and Going Green (Paperback)
I recently completed building a LEED Silver home. During the process, I asked my professional team for books in addition to the LEED For Homes Reference Manual, which was sometimes confusing to me. I was given this Guide, and found it to be well organized and also very user friendly as a reference guide. The numerous tips on how to accumulate more points on the exam coincide and mirror the actual experience of how to score more points for LEED certification...very interesting.

My review is comparing this prep to other electronic study guides, but I have not yet taken the exam. Chen writes as though he is speaking to you personally. There is a thorough introduction section that covers the very basics for people who haven't even looked into the exam. Some of the chapters have a question and answer format that is nice for test preparation, but I felt as if I wasn't always getting the information because it was so broken up. The small novel size of the book stretches out one topic's information across several pages. Organization makes it slightly difficult to comprehend as every line of text demands attention. Throughout every chapter, Chen establishes mnemonics FOR YOU in order to remember core concepts. There is a substantial amount of underlining and bolding of words to help emphasis, however this may clash with your personal study habits. This is a good prep to follow another study guide, one that will plainly introduce the facts. Chen includes some information that could easily become outdated, such as websites and fees. But I would recommend this book as a lightweight supplement, as it is full of relevant information that is easy to understand and there are a lot of bulleted points, for quick review.

A very useful book. I've read several times before I go to my test. Now, I passed. I found this book points out all important elements you need in the test. It is still a very useful book after the test. I read it from time to time now. It helps to sharp my idea.

I just passed my LEED AP test today. This book is far from perfect, (it desperately needed a run through by an editor) but it helped me break down my study time to focus on what was stressed on the test. The LEED guide is still a must, but this made the guide so much more usable.

I used this book as my main study material and passed the LEED AP exam on my first try. Its plain and concise words, and the simple structure of the book allowed me to catch and memorize the contents much faster: everything from the detailed numbers to the whole system. Thank you Gang Chen. I look forward to reading your next book.

this book is a very good way to study for the LEED exam, it is shame that the exam is changing at the end of JUNE though, I don't know how much help this book will be after that.

I purchased this book well in advance of taking the LEED exam. It was instrumentally in studying simply for narrowing down the 400 page reference guide which is way to much to memorize. In certain instances you do need to know more then certain keywords that are underlined, that is my only fault of the book. Compared to other mock exams the mock exam was somewhat easier but still helpful. The mock exams with more story type questions where you need to select 3 out of 5 were more challenging.
