My son and I LOVE the LEGO "micro" board games. He is probably on the young side of "ready" for them (at a shade under four years old)and understands little of the rules, but he helps build them, rebuild them, plays them with the family constantly and we just plain get our money's worth. These games subtly enforce key learning objectives for children his age such as counting, memorization, light strategy as well as developing fine motor skills. Did I mention they're also really really entertaining? Even as an adult I had fun building our little pirate ship and playing against my family as we tried to be the last pirate standing aboard our plank! It's serious fun for the whole family!

I really enjoyed Pirate Planks. Lego encourages you to make your own rules, and here is a good rule change. If you only have two players playing, each player should choose two pirates. This adds more strategy to the two player game.

I am already a Lego enthusiast, but this is a fun game regardless of the brand. Got it for my six year old nephew for Christmas and the entire family had fun playing it. Kids will love it because the rules are simple and the Lego ship board and figures are fun to put together and play with, adults will enjoy it because there are opportunities to set back opponents and some strategy involved, but it's strategy that even a six year old can grasp. Highly recommend!

I work at a Call center and like most they have a strict clean desk policy. You are allowed to have just a few personal items... A Lego piece is passable... little do they know its a really fun and competitive game for cubicle wars.

Very easy to play, enough so that my four-year-old has no problems with it. The best part is in trying to balance the strategy of building the dice with wanting vengeance on the other players who've sent you further along the plank. Very easy 15-20 minute game.

This is the perfect game for our family of four! It's quick, it's fun, we get to pound on the table and say, "Walk. The. Plank!" It's honestly the best game for when your young one wants your attention and wants to play with you, because it's engaging, and QUICK! Ten minutes and boom, you've made your kids day. What's more perfect than that? Oh, I know, being independently wealthy and getting to spend all day with them! :) But for those of us who don't have that, this game is the perfect investment!

My nephew loves Legos, so I got him the LEGO® LGS Pirate Plank 3848 game for Christmas. He enjoys playing it, and while the game play is a bit simplistic, that can be corrected by changing the rules (something Lego encourages). However, I think the set was overpriced for the size, it is pretty small. Less than ten dollars would have been a good deal but above is too much in my opinion. If you don't already have it, Minotaurus is a much larger (4X) game for about twice as much and is more fun and complex.

this is a fun game that I play with my sons who are just short of 5 and 7. the ship was easy to build. I admit that I found the instructions about the dice confusing (you start out with all sides except the pirate tile side blank and build it as you play - it's part of the strategy). But it probably didn't help that I had to little boys pawing at me to hurry up and figure it out so we could play. they both enjoy the game although when they decide to gang up on me I end up losing very quickly. as with any lego game/set, you have to stay on top of the pieces - I store them all in a ziploc bag. I do wish the game board would fit back in the box once it is all put together.
