4.0 out of 5 stars Very neat way to count down Christmas
Talk about a neat advent calendar! We were very confused, however, upon opening the box as to what to do with this set. We actually are rocket scientists here and since there were no instructions, you have to flim-flam around until you figure out the picture. Anyway, upon opening the box, there is a beautiful Christmas scene with the Lego city boats transporting...

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
This item had so much promise. I had high hopes, my eight year old had high hopes...what better way to anticipate Christmas but with Legos! And a teeny lego kit a day. A huge city was on the side of the box, and I warned my son that there was no way an entire city could fit into those little boxes...or could it? November moved by very slowly.
Let me tell you what...

2.0 out of 5 stars Disappointing, December 22, 2007

This item had so much promise. I had high hopes, my eight year old had high hopes...what better way to anticipate Christmas but with Legos! And a teeny lego kit a day. A huge city was on the side of the box, and I warned my son that there was no way an entire city could fit into those little boxes...or could it? November moved by very slowly.
Let me tell you what he opened: Day 13, A DUMPSTER (thats it!), Day 20, a trash can...because nothing says Christmas like a trashcan. He also got a barrel, a dolly, a computer, and other completely random things. These weren't things you put together either, these were just tiny plastic replicas. On the plus side (?) He got alot of little lego men, a janitor, a police man. But once again, with nothing to put together.
I don't understand the mishmash of items he got! I held my breah that first week or two, praying there was a grand plan to all these weird and completely unrelated items..would it build something? Did it have meaning? Unfortunately, on December 22nd I have decided no. This is a completely odd set, none of the pieces go together, and despite the misnomer of being a "lego" set, nothing snapped into anything else. Just plain strange.

Talk about a neat advent calendar! We were very confused, however, upon opening the box as to what to do with this set. We actually are rocket scientists here and since there were no instructions, you have to flim-flam around until you figure out the picture. Anyway, upon opening the box, there is a beautiful Christmas scene with the Lego city boats transporting numerous Christmas trees. Behind each door is a picture of what is supposed to be built for the day, and it's quite fun punching the door open to discover which item is going to be built for the day. My only complaint with this set is that it would be an entire different experience if Lego would change it to actually build something like, say the boat they pictured on the box. Maybe build a piece of it each day. Other than that, it's just a very neat to make the town come alive with Christmas Anyway, grab this set, you WON'T be disappointed! Recommend!

I usually forget to buy these things until mid-December and either they are sold out or my kids have to "catch up" on the days all at once! Finally this year I remembered and cant wait to give this to them. (I got one for each of 2 children...no fighting!) Note to self: Don't forget to pull these out of the closet on Dec. 1!

They are bombarded daily with toys and such on television during the month of December, so it is nice to let them have at least a little something early. The waiting makes them nutty!

The toys are pretty simple, but it is way more daily fun than getting crappy chocolate (remember "Bad Santa" movie ha ha!) or just moving a little object to a new place on a traditional advent calendar. Soon they will be too old to appreciate any little thing like this.

Plus the toys are little so if we get unexpected company, I can gather them all up quickly to make people belive we live in a neat house! Don't forget to get one early this year!!!

Got this last year and my two boys, 9 and 5, LOVED getting up early each morning to assemble the piece for the day. This made a fantastic family Christmas gift. We gave this to a few close friends as their Christmas gift. It stood out from the gift-mania that happens on Christmas day and it was fun for every family we gave it to. There is also a girl version!

I picked this up for Advent mostly for my middle child. He is the lego crazy kid but by the last week all of my kids wanted to open the daily door. Everything was cute...little trash can, computers, suitcase trolly, janitors cart... with little people to go with the items. It got all of my kids digging into our stash of legos and building like crazy! I will be looking for one of these next year!

5.0 out of 5 stars LEGO FANS...Unite!, December 23, 2007

...but seriously, if your child loves Legos, this is an awesome advent!! My youngest child is in to Littlest Pet Shop, so I bought her that advent calendar and my oldest (6 1/2) this one. BIG DIFFERENCE-lol! The Littlest Pet Shop will not be purchased again-it was really bad : ( But this set has been an awesome treat for both kids. Everyday they rush to wake up and brush their teeth (with out being told!) so that they can find out what new Lego's they get to play with that day. Next year I'm buying early so I can get in on the Lego Princess version for my youngest-I feel so bad for her sucky Littlest Pet Shop Advent-such a let down. I'm glad that they are both enjoying this one : ) Little do they know, Santa's bringing MORE LEGOS on Christmas-hehehe!

My nine-year old had lots of fun discovering a toy every day for 24 days. As other reviewers have mentioned, it would be better if more of the items were holiday-related, but my child can always find use for any type of Legos so overall this was a good item. The items are "City" type Legos. Some parts are very small so I would not recommend this for very young children.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fits well with Lego City sets, December 28, 2007
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: LEGO® City Advent Calendar (7907) (Toy)
My 7 and 8 year old boys received this as a "prelude" to some Lego City sets that were Christmas gifts. This is the best advent calendar they have ever had. They were so excited to open each day's gift that I had to hide the box so that they wouldn't open all of them at once. There were 7 figures of city "workers", that were their favorites. Other items were things like city road blocks, equipment, etc. The last day was a Christmas tree.

We love lego's but we would like to see more ornaments in the calender...a few years ago it almost all about Christmas and this year it was kind of lame people and their tools. Amazon was great and everything arrived on-time!!
