4.0 out of 5 stars Very Cool Robot, July 27, 2009
= Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: LEGO Agents Robo Attack (8970) (Toy)
Very cool new Robot from Lego. Excellent retro design. Seems very 1950's sci-fi with the feel of a James Bond-esque villian. Excellent for kids to build and play with (if child is around 4,5 or 6, help them with the build). And it's very poseable. Also there's so many extra's in this set with figures and vehicles. Just excellent.

PRO's-Robot design, right hand rotating claw (which can hold the mini-figures in its grasp), left hand with a great idea from lego: a light up brick that attaches to the left arm to light up a 'flame thrower' type weapon (excellent idea). Villian sits in the bubble headed top of the robot, which can be opened and the villian can eject and escape via a small escape pod/craft. Torso of Robot can also be detached from legs and used as an escape vehicle. You also get a Lego Agents jump jet plane with 2 flick fire missiles, a 4 wheeler vehicle, 2 lego agents (Chase and Trace), 3 civilians (one with a camera) and the villianous Dr. Inferno (I think that's his name) with a rubber head-dress design and brush metal right arm/claw. The 4-wheeler has a rope (string is strong) attached to a wench on the back end with a hook.

CON's-Really none except the 4-wheeler could be slightly better designed (perhaps a more detailed vehicle and could use a 'crank' or lever to help pull the rope/string-but you can do this with your thumb anyways). Also mid-torso area doesn't completely rotate 360 degrees. It goes all the way right and all the way left but to completely rotate 360 it touches/taps part of some bricks and makes them separate if done too hard. Lego should've just added a small center piece to lift torso slightly so it rotates smooth.

Other than my above 'CON' suggestions, this is an excellent toy/model from Lego. I HIGHLY recommend it to new and old lego collectors and especially for young kids to play with. A Robot, 2 vehicles (4 if you count in the escape pods from the Robot) and 6 mini-figures. JUST A GREAT SET!

If you don't buy this thing for anything else but the laugh factor, then you've done well! Dr. Inferno's hair is just hysterical - straight up and on fire! This is really one of those extra neat sets, one where you know the engineers at Lego were having some extra fun that day. The entire top of the robot comes off to make a flying machine - totally awesome and hysterical too! The arm has a laser to blast all the good guys that Dr. Inferno comesa across - he even has a couple of hostage minifigures of "normal" people. The set also comes with a special Agent car to take out Inferno, complete with a roll-up grappling hook. This set is engineered exceptionally well - the thing holds up to hours of play just like the rest of the Agents series. Great, great set, loved to pieces by all the boys in this house, highly recommend!

I got this for my grandson's birthday [he's 9] He loves it! He had it put together the first day, but of course, it's LEGO, so he can demolish it and reassemble it any time he wants to. Great toy!

My 4 year old son loves this item.
Although requiring about 15 minutes for him to build, it has proved a major source of fun and exploration for him.
He and his older sister have robot wars - he with this item and she with pieces from her LEGO Belville kits assembled into a "mega-robot".

4.0 out of 5 stars Great toy, but don't overpay!, December 14, 2009

Don"t buy this toy from resellers!!!

Just got back from Target and they have lots of these... I also called the Lego store here in Portland, OR, and they have plenty and they don't think they'll run out by Christmas! Don't let the resellers hype you into thinking they have the last ones! Call around and save! The lego website has them too... Even if you buy with overnight or 2 day shipping it will still be cheaper than these crooked toy resellers!
