I wish I had known about the creator series before now! I played with legos in the 80's and remember them as one of my favorite toys. I had become jaded with legos prior to finding this creator Fire Truck. The sets I have bought for my son previously tend to come with too many large, specialized pieces that don't leave much for imaginative/creative play. This 3-in-1 set has two large specialized pieces out of 700+! The rest are pieces that could be used for building most anything a 6 year old can think of. I was only a little concerned with getting him a set designed for 8 years old and up. He has been building legos since he was 4 and he has become adept at following the instruction books when he chooses. I helped him build the Fire Truck on his birthday. It took us about 2 hours all total. Following the instructions for the creator series is more complicated than previous sets he has played with. I taught him to pay attention to the parts box on the page and then look for what has been added since the previous step. A couple of days later he wanted to build the helicopter. I let him do it all by himself this time and he did well but for a couple of errors. All told, this is the best set of legos I have purchased so far. This is legos as I remember them. I will definitely buy more creator sets in the future.

The building of this truck kept our boys occupied all day. We area all happy here, you've just gotta love Lego!

Purchased for 9 year old grandson who had a great time putting it together which took him approximately three settings to complete it.

I prefer the Lego Creator series, this isn't your typical Lego model. After a couple of hours of dedicated time and effort, I finally completed one of the most elaborate LEGO items I've ever done. With lots of small peices and a lengthly 2-book instruction book, this was a fun task that is definately not ment for young kids to do...but they love playing with the completed product.

This is a nice looking piece when you're done. It just takes a good while to get there. Definitely go by the age recommendation of at least 8 y/o

This was a gift for our grandson. It was what he wanted for Christmas. He loves to build with legos, just like his dad did when he was young.
