5.0 out of 5 stars A Complete Lego Set
I splurged on this Lego set and couldn't make myself wait for Christmas to put it together. In all, it took about four or five hours to put together - the set is over 1,600 pieces. There are three stories to the building. The first story is the grocery store, complete with cash register, vegetables and fruits (nice effects), and a refrigerated section. The second...

3.0 out of 5 stars Lego can build houses, not all available here
We bought this for Christmas for our 11 year old son. It took us most of Christmas Day to complete, but it was a project that the whole family, including grandparents, could work on together. Their are a large number of parts and I would advise anyone to open the little packages as needed, not all of them at once. Some parts are so similar, it could create difficulties to...

The second story is an apartment with a fireplace and stairs. The third story is a combination apartment/terrace. There is a grandfather clock and old-style heater by the window. The terrace has a grill and furniture.

Other nice effects in the set include a covey underneath the stairs for a mouse to hide in, and a set of mailboxes. Also, the first floor is covered in smooth tiles, giving it a nice texture and look. The mini-figures included in the set are pretty standard.

I prefer this type of set to the Creator sets, because it is built to scale for mini-figure interaction. The building itself is beautiful - my children saw it on the table in the morning and stopped to admire it (before asking to play with it). I would recommend this set to any adult aficionado of Lego's. I had a blast putting it together and displaying it.

5.0 out of 5 stars It was a hit!, January 15, 2009

The Lego Green Grocer was a hit with my 12 year old son. The box said for ages 16+, but he had no trouble assembling it on his own. He enjoys constructing the buildings and this one was a hit. He took 3 days to put it together, following the guide books, one level for each day. There is a step-by-step guide book for each level and it was nice that the 2,000+ pieces were divided by levels. He (and I) were fascinated by all the details that were included in the set--very creative. He would love the other sets that could be set up alongside the Grocer.

This set was a blast to put together. I am an AFOL and my 6 and 4 year olds even helped me do certain parts of the building. Each level was broken in to different numbers with direction books for each. Very detailed as well.

Purchased this for our 14 year old son for Christmas after it was clear this was the top item on his wish list. He spent several hours over several days building the model and really had a good time. The beauty is in the details.

Great set and very fun to build. The "removable" floors are a key element to letting the kids really play with the set. One additional feature that I appreciate is the fact that many decorative elements are created by combining standard pieces in an unusual way---the railing on the roof deck, for example, is made out of "skeleton legs" and "hatchets." The kids really got a kick out of this one. A challenging build with a lot of parts though, take your time!

Lego can do no wrong releasing the modular buildings series. Right after the iconic cafe corner, they have launched yet another absolutely stunning addition to the Lego block. This is what Lego stands for and ought to be: great details and innovative building techniques. The architecture, color scheme, range of pieces and end result are just fantastic. So much so that I purchased the other 2- the cafe corner and fire brigade. Trust me, the trio together is a sight to behold on your display shelf. All runaway Lego classics!

I have built the Cafe Corner set and thought that was the "cat's meow" until I built this one. This set by far more complex and detailed! But it does add nicely to the Cafe Corner (these sets were meant to connect together).

This is easily one of the main sets that any serious Lego collector should own. I personally do not recommend it to anyone younger than 12 or so - this set has many tiny pieces and takes a while to assemble. For me, it took about 5 hours or so in total but I built it one floor at a time over three days (the middle floor is quicker than the top or bottom as it has the least amount of pieces). With that said, patience is needed!

This set is nicely adorned with the grocer (first floor) pretty much fully stock/furnished. The second and third floor have a few basic starter items (grandfather clock, fire place, radiator) and plenty of room for your own ideas if you wish to finish furnishing it.

I hope Lego will add more of these models is a large scale release (you can purchase user made models off of the Lego website, but they are expensive!).

My husband has built many of the Lego architecture series. He's done the fire station and Grand Emporium and will be adding the green grocer soon. He just loves it and it's fun watching him build these. And they look great to boot. Legos.....not just for the young, also for the young at heart!LEGO Exclusive Green Grocer Set 10185

My 8-year old could make this with some assistance from me. This is a big set and is best tackled in a multi-night sessions. Once together, it also a great toy. It's a little awkward to unstack the floors, but it is possible, and my daughter really appreciated the stairs to the next level. Looking forward to getting other cafe corner sets to link up to the Green Grocer.
