My 2.5 year old LOVES these.

This set is great for novelty pieces, like the double-decker four peg pieces which each have a number or corresponding number of items.

He can spend hours playing with these legos, creating all kinds of fun things, and using his awesome imagination.

My 2 year old daughter received this Duplo set for her birthday. Overall it's a nice set with a lot of pieces, but it all depends on what you're wanting to do with Legos. Do you want to build? Or play matching games? Do you already own a whole slew of Legos and now you're looking for some novelty pieces? If so, then this set would definitely fit the bill.

This set is great for novelty pieces, like the double-decker four peg pieces which each have a number or corresponding number of items. They would be great fun for playing little number games with (my daughter is still a little on the young side of this, but this may be neat later). This set also contains one cute little person who can be made to attach standing, or laying, or sitting on any Lego piece, and his pal, a dalmation dog. My daughter loves the dog. There is a single window, and a little standard Lego car. The white fence is a great novelty piece too.

The problem with this set (or advantage depending on your perspective) is that there are too many novelty pieces, and too few basic building pieces. This set is sorely lacking in the rectangular pieces which are so necessary to building just about any structure. The novelty pieces are pretty cool, and I imagine as we amass more basic Lego bricks, we'll have a whole new appreciation for the novelty pieces, but the bottom line is that if you are wanting a building set, I would start with something more basic than this.

I think one area in which Lego has gone astray is in adding too much to a lot of their sets in an effort to make them more educational, or less centered on the classic (boring?) building aspect of Legos, which was/is in fact the most educational part anyway. And besides building is fun.

I originally got my son the duplo box of 71. We had fun, but it was hard to make more than one thing at a time and hard to make a good house.
This set was the perfect compliment to it and filled up the rest of the 71 box.
I love the pictures and numbers and so does my son.
The cute additions (dog, flowers, fence, window, boy) are great for imaginative play, and it's nice to have an extra train car to hook up to the other one from the 71 box.

My nephew loves to play with it. It's child friendly as the blocks are big unlike the usual Lego. The best part of it is that my nephew is having fun while learning...

We love Duplos around here, though we try to stick to the more basic sets rather than specialty ones (the train series being the big exception). As such, we weren't planning on buying this, but it was given to our nearly three-year old son for Christmas. He has been pulling out the numbered blocks and their picture counterparts frequently, and it has proven helpful in teaching him numbers to correspond to the counting he has long been able to do.

when i purchased this lego for my almost 2 years old baby, i didn't think it would be this nice. the pieces are big enough for his age, and he loves the little dog and man, and the car, which is nice to find all in one box. It has great educational potential, since it allows to match the numbers with their correspondent amount of little fun figures. Colors are great, it looks pretty durable, and i hope my little one will enjoy it for a long time.

This set has a little bit of everything: car base, person, dog, window, fence and flowers so there's lots of add on play value to any existing duplo. The man included can fix onto other lego in a sitting 4 piece mode or standing 2 piece mode. The dog can also attach to other lego bricks with its feet.
Duplo is a very high quality toy. I've been buying it for 11+ years and have never had a piece break or the design fall off. In my experience you can also clean the items in the dishwasher with no adverse effects. It's chew proof (not puppy proof though) so suitable for the under 3s.
You must have a base plate for set. The constructed number pieces fall over a bit like dominos in play without it, which as you can imagine is a bit frustrating for a 2-5 year old. I quickly had to run for a base.
There are not many 'construction' pieces in this set - just smaller bricks so to make a decent house or corners you do need to supplement this set.
You can make a very tall, fairly sturdy tower just using the number and picture blocks - taller than your average 18 month old.
It's great to see some really educational lego and some useful number bricks and matching item bricks. I'm sure I'll use the numbers again and again.
It fails a little as it's very easy for children to match the corresponding numeral and item bricks as they are the same color. It's more of a 10 x matching color exercise than a counting the items on the bricks and matching them to the numerals lesson.
Recommended for the numbers.

I bought this for my 2 year old daughter. She has enjoyed playing with the set. I point out the blocks with numbers and we practice counting. I think her favorite parts are the blocks with wheels and the windows.

We knew my 2-year-old kids LEGO Duplo products, so we bought this. As expected, they like this, and even I like playing this too.
