I purchased this as a gift for my little train enthusiast, not realizing that it was aged 6-12, and he's about to turn 4. Happily, though, the directions that came with the kit were extremely clear, and it was a great Mommy and Me project to build the first train. Amazingly enough, the kit utilizes all the pieces for the steam train at least, and there are quite a few of them. My little guy found each piece, and assembled what he could under my instruction, and I helped out when he could not get the pieces to pop together. The finished train even rolls, which thrilled him, and we BOTH felt a sense of accomplishment when it was completed. Highly recommended (under $[..]? SOOO worth it!)

This is the first Mini Creator set I have tried. I was very pleased. Using mostly common pieces you can quickly produce a wonderful 1880's Western steam engine. The set comes with detailed instructions for two other models as well. You can put together a smart looking diesel engine or what looks like a hand car (although a different scale than the other two).

The set is packaged in a reusable plastic box and the directions are clear and straightforward as Lego fans have come to expect. A very pleasing little set sure to bring pleasure to anyone who likes trains. Check it out.

Lego has several mini figures. In addition to this train there are little construction trucks, airplanes, etc. I went to buy more of these and found that Amazon was charging more than twenty dollars when lego dot com sells them for five plus shipping. These are fun, small, easy-to-assemble, stocking stuffer type toys for children who are outgrowing the basic sets. This is a nice little toy, but definitely shop around for price.

This is a nice little train set that is perfect for a stocking stuffer or something. At 73 pieces its quick to put together, but as my train specialist son was quick to point out not anatomically correct (no piston, the rod to the driving wheels doesn't even touch the wheels!).

Its a great gift for a young train lover, particularly one that is just graduating to little legos from the duplo.

Note: The pricing currently displayed appears to be treating it as a collectible, which is odd since its still available directly from Lego. Don't let the price confuse you in thinking that this is a larger model.

A review of the Lego Creator Mini Train Set. This little Creator set is a great little toy. Make two different train engines and one train car. Comes in a great little container for storage of all the little pieces. Great price for a fun toy.

I ordered the Lego train for my son for his birthday. He saw it online and had requested it for his birthday. The packaging is great as it can be used to store the lego peices. The instructions were clear and concise and my son who is now 9 had no trouble putting it together. He especially liked that he could make 3 different trains from the one set and has gone on to make up his own styles of trains from the set. It was a little pricey and it was hard to find. I even went to a lego store and they had everything but the train. I am very pleased with the train and it was an excellent purchase.

This is a very nice small Lego set which allows creative play as well as cool designs to build following the instructions. Only one comment -- I have seen prices as high as $34.95 on Amazon for these minicreator sets and any price above $10 is price gouging. Be warned and shop around!

Our 4 year old loves this. He needed help assembling it, but he's younger than the recommended age.

What a great little Lego set. All three models are fun, easy builds, producing absolutely charming and adorable train vehicles, a steam locomotive, a diesel engine, or a little electric engine. I think Lego particularly lends well to building trains, and even this small scale creates amazingly realistic looking trains. These wheels don't fit any Lego tracks, but they roll beautifully and smoothly on hard surfaces. If you buy multiple copies, the cars will hook up to each other. Lego is durable, but you gotta take care to not lose parts...its a building toy. For sure, one of my favorites of the mini Lego series...due to the charm and realism. I had fun assembeling this Lego with my 5 year old Grandson, he did most of it himself, just by looking at the easy to make guide. Afterwards he loved playing with it!
