My eight year old daughter and her father have spent a lot of time with this set during the summer. First, they built the ferry, per instructions, which also has a nice car and trailer. Then they built an impressively realistic Deadliest-Catch-like crab boat and have made other fun lego things never envisioned by the Lego designer.

Putting it together per the instructions is like a 3 dimensional jigsaw puzzle. Reassembling it your own way gives plenty of creativity. There are enough pieces here that if this was the only Lego set you had, you could still have hours and hours and hours of fun making your own creations and not feel immediately frustrated that you needed more pieces. The variety of different blocks is excellent.

And the ferry itself is a very cool toy. Working ramps, a car and trailer to go up the ramps, then sail around: it's just fun. It's also detailed and plain fun to look at.

I hope there will be more Creator sets of this scope.

Great kit! The ferry itself is quite complex model and fun to build .What is great of this kit and why i would recommend it for parents is that it has such a great variety (and amount) of generic lego pieces. Some modern kits have parts that serve only one function - this one has all kinds of stuff (wheels, windows, antennas, swivels of all kinds and bunch of basic bits).

You could build great variety of things from this set.

I would have loved this one as a kid. eh and still do...

This was exactly what my son wanted for his 9th birthday and he loves it.

We take a ferry boat to get to our summer home. This toy is true to life and really makes a solid connection with my children. They play with it often. I even made ferry passes out of card stock and gave them a hole punch. Now I am just waiting for them to start charging me real money :)...Great investment for lego lovers b/c it converts into several designs when they get bored with it...which they never do!! I just wish it was a little more sturdy. The front gate doesn't lock as tight as I want it too. The kids don't mind at all though...

Fun toy, easy to assemble. Some pieces come off easy. But they are easy to put back. My 9 year old loves it and my 14 year old.

I bought this for my boyfriend as a silly gift because he loves to build things, and he loves it. Built the ferry in a short period of time and will break it down to work on the cargo plane next. Great for people who like to follow directions.

I had been looking for a product that the kids can work over a period of time. This one is a very good start. Building the 3 different versions out of the box is pretty interesting, challening and entertaining for the kids. Takes a good amount of time to build and rebuild. I think it also allows kids to get a little creative and start building designs of thier own. It would be nice if lego starts offering some generic parts that can be used with this and other similar sets, so that kids can think a little out of the box. Overall a nice toy!

My 8 year old son is all about boats, and lives and works around them, so this was the obvious choice for a first major lego project kit. He worked with his father to build up the foundation, but then took off and built the rest of the boat, for the most part, on his own. I was the gopher, but wasn't allowed to "help". He worked steadily on the boat for 3 hours one afternoon, 3 another night, and 5 the next day, until he finished. Hardly stopped long enough to eat! The instructions were well laid out and easy for him to follow. He loves his boat so much that he has asked for the same kit so that he won't have to tear down his boat to build the airplane. I am very impressed with the lego creator series. We'll probably end up buying them all! Two thumbs up!

Legos done it again with a great product! My son loves it and can not wait to create the others!

My kids ages 7 and 9 love Legos, they are educational and allow them to express their creativity.
