And QUATRO elements are compatible with LEGO DUPLO bricks (sold separately), so now there are even more ways to play.

The QUATRO Small Bucket is the perfect starter set, with 20 colorful bricks in different shapes and sizes. The bricks come in a sturdy, see-through storage container with a colorful yellow top that can be used as a building base or as a lid for taking the bucket with you for on-the-go play.

I thought this might be a little much for a one-year old (the set is rated "1+"), but my son took to them immediately. The sizes, shapes, and colors are ideal, and the set (20 blocks) is just the right quantity...I can't imagine dealing with the 75-piece set. Within a week of receiving them, he got into dumping them and pulling apart any blocks I would build up. At 15 months, he has started occasionally putting them together, sorting them by color and shape, etc. This is an excellent toy to grow with the child.

My only caveat is the lid (block base) for the container. It's not as high-quality as everything else, and ours developed a crack within a couple of weeks. Otherwise, this is one of the best toys ever in terms of interest and overall play time for my child.

My son really enjoys playing with his legos. They are easy for his little hands to put together, and the product is quite durable. I think toys like this, that don't have lights or require batteries, are the best kind because they let your child use his imagination. Recommended.

One of the really fun things about becoming a parent (at least for me) is that you get to shop for Legos again. I was looking around Amazon for various Duplo Lego sets, when I came across a reference in one of the reviews to Quatro blocks. I had never heard of these toys, and was surprised that they existed - they were certainly not around when I was a kid. However, I soon found out that Quatro blocks were only released for a very limited time, and apparently were not popular enough for Lego to continue them. So getting a brand new set of these is virtually impossible these days. I looked around for a bit, and I found a nice used set on eBay that was selling for about half the price than the one here on Amazon.

I am pretty happy with these blocks. They are indeed twice the size of the Duplo blocks, with which they are fully compatible. The blocks are not as proportionally sturdy, nor do they snap together as firmly as the other Lego blocks. This might be a good thing though - these features make it easier for the little hands to hold and snap together.

Due to their size this product only contains 20 blocks. There are only so many things that you can build out of such a small number, but I still found that having these oversize blocks can be cool for some combined Quatro-Duplo projects.

As for our toddler, he didn't really take to these blocks as much as I had hoped for. Sure, he played with them and had fun stacking them up, but no more so than the Duplo blocks. I think that Legos are really a very hit or miss thing with toddlers, and there is no way to tell in advance if any particular one would take to them. Still, I really like having this set around in the playroom.
