5.0 out of 5 stars Cool! And at long last Han!
I got this toy for my birthday the other day.I built it with in a few minutes and found it very cool.A cool part to it is the Han Solo figure.I would say it's worth buying.

3.0 out of 5 stars Probably the least interesting of the classic Star Wars kits
Why they even chose this vehicle over some of the others in the original trilogy I'll never know, but I was hooked since purchasing the X-Wing Fighter (still my favorite) and had to get all of the classic Star Wars trilogy kits. (The Episode One kits are not so impressive unfortunately.) The Luke is pretty similar to the figure that came with the Speeder Bikes but...

4.0 out of 5 stars A skiff off the old block..., July 10, 2000

I recommend this set, probably because I liked the ship in the movie and think the Lego version is a good replica. It IS nice to finally have a Han Solo mini-fig, but, as others here have said, there shoulda been a bad guy. The skiff in the movie was crawling with them! Even Boba Fett hopped over to join the party. Another drawback is that fact that the plank (the one Luke performs his acrobatics upon) is not retractable. It would have been very easy to allow the plank to slide back into the skiff, but Lego apparently didn't pursue that. Still, the design is well thought-out and the ship has a nice look. What the heck, it's only a few bucks. I'd say it's definitely worth the money.

This is a pretty cool ship, though it could have come with more. Han is a good find with it, and he has the little spear. Luke is in it AGAIN (yawn), and has a lightsaber. It should have come with Chewbacca or Jabba, though. It's not a VERY memorable ship from the movie. It is pretty cool and it's not costly.

5.0 out of 5 stars a fun affordable small set, December 4, 2000

I was very happy with this set. Although it does not come with any actual skiff guards (how cool would a lando one be!?), it does come with a very nice Luke (green saber included) and Han Solo. There is enough room for a decent action scene of a few mini-figs, and even a "pilot" area in the rear. The rear fins do pivot nicely and overall it has a lot of potential, especially for such a small set. My only regret is that the plank does not retract, otherwise this model serves the purpose well.

(The Episode One kits are not so impressive unfortunately.) The Luke is pretty similar to the figure that came with the Speeder Bikes but much more detail is added to the face this time around. The Han Solo is a bit disheveled as he appeared in Return of the Jedi after being freed from the carbonite and held captive by Jabba the Hut. (I've heard the Millennium Falcon kit will have a different Han Solo figure later this year.) Despite being a bad guy vehicle operated by Jabba's bounty hunters in the film, there are no villians and no pilot - only Luke & Han. However, once I took it apart, there were some very cool pieces that went well with the Speeder Bike pieces.

My four-year-old and I fell in love with Lego sets when we bought some at Legoland last month. We have been putting them together every day since then. We both love to follow the beautifully and expertly rendered instructions (masterpieces from my perspective as a professional technical writer). What a perfect activity for a parent and child to share; I enjoy it every bit as much as he does. He is doing the 8-12 sets with confidence and speed already. The skills he is learning--patience, following instructions, matching, one-to-one correspondence, etc., are incredible. I marvel, also, to see the tremendous boost in his confidence in his own abilities to create something wonderful and to follow directions. Oh yeah--this is one of his favorite sets among all the Star Wars sets. We have bought nearly all of them, short of the really huge ones. (Here a couple of hints if you have lots of sets--color-code the pieces with a certain color of fingernail polish for each set. There are many colors available in small inexpensive bottles at superstores. We are storing ours in those new "disposable" plastic food storage boxes. We write the set number on the box and paint a dot of the polish next to the number. Also, we put all the directions in plastic page protectors in a 3-ring binder in order, according to set numbers. This storage/organization system is working great for us.)

3.0 out of 5 stars great design, but no fun characters, August 17, 2000

Though this Lego set is one of the better movie replicas and it's nice to finally have Han Solo, I wonder where are the enemies guards, boba fett, or comrads like chewbacca, Lando, something to play with. Since it's difficult to get your hands on Star Wars lego characters this set is near useless for the purpose of play. While Lego is slowly developing there Star Wars line, they could atleast try to supply something to play with.

Maybe they could accomplish this with more Star Wars "location" sets so all these vehicles can have someplace to go.

But it's a nice small set to add to any collection. And if nothing else, a kid could use the blocks to make there own speeder or ship of some sort.
