3.0 out of 5 stars Great for building
Kids love the smaller plates and can connect them with legos to buiild roads. Biggest one's corner was bent slightly whenit arrived and it seems more flimsy (probably b/c of large size)than the others.
Overall, nice product more $ than I thought it was worth though. In hindsight, I might have bought plates individually in store for less $ than the set online.

Recommended to stretch your existing Lego investment, especially for children who set up characters and scenarios with action based on land or water.

The extra land (and water, the blue pieces) helps my child set up complex and imaginative scenarios and fix them in place, then move different pieces forward and around. He's a WWII buff, and orderly lines of vehicles and people are important in his play. Watch your own kids' play before deciding -- another child, by contrast, built spaceships for years, and never asked for or needed any land in over ten years of lego-play. His creations swooped through the air.

The one baseplate we already had (which could have been 10 or more years old) was a thicker plastic, these are a bit thin and could easily be cracked by carelessly stepping on them.

It's a subtle gift, kids don't really know you can get extra parts like these, they are focused on the big pictures on the boxes they see at the stores. It was well-received and the pieces are in constant use.

4.0 out of 5 stars not all big, January 11, 2007
Great to add to Lego play, but we thought all the plates were the large ones. Only one large gray one and three smaller green ones. FYI

4.0 out of 5 stars Broken corners, but fun to play with, September 19, 2008

We received this as a gift for my 5 year old son. The first one arrived with a broken corner on the largest plate. The purchaser requested another one and instructed them to use more padding or a larger box. A second set was shipped in exactly the same way as the first, again with a broken corner on the largest piece. We are now waiting for the third shipment. Hopefully all pieces will be intact this time.

The largest piece is considerably flimsier than the other 3 smaller pieces. Once it gets bent, it's just a matter of time before the white line turns into a crack and the piece breaks off. My son and daughter (and husband) are enjoying playing with them until that happens.

Great product for the price. You can't find the oversized Lego baseplates in the stores so I was happy to find them on Amazon. My son loves them!

I bought this product because I've got a few Lego models that I wanted to put on a better display. The plates work fine, though they are thinner than the ones I used when I was younger (these plates actually bend a little if you pick them up by the corner). They are about 1/6 of a standard block thick, but it's fine if you leave them on another surface.

If you are going to buy here though, be careful. It took a few weeks for the company to ship the product and I never received anything from them indicating why the delay occurred. I did get an Email from Amazon indicating the vendor had not transferred the order yet after about 5 days, but it still took a while to get the items.

I would buy another of these products, just not from this particular vendor (I would buy direct from Lego.com and get the product faster enxt time).

good value for the number of plates. I agree with all of the reviewers that these are very flimsy, but there is no other comparable product to purchase.

Not much to say about a base plate. These are good for what they're meant for. My kids wish they would stack on top of other Legos, though, so they could be used as ceilings as well as floors. Oh well, they're still versatile and allow Lego creations to be portable and stable, which is the point. Worth the purchase price.

If you're building anything from Lego bricks, these 16x16 and 32x32 studs baseplates are great accessories to display anyone's creations, be they houses, village or cars. Larger sizes of baseplates give you more flexibility, freedom to expand your building ideas, and strong foundation to your creations.

I bought two of these packages and made a lego table for my nephews, they play with it all the time. it is amazing how much creativity it inspires in kids, green becomes a lawn or a park, blue the ocean or a lake, and grey for an airport, buildings, roads. The best thing is when used with a table as I did, it is t perfect child height. Large LEGO Base plates
