5.0 out of 5 stars Great toy for an older child or adult.
This was a Father's Day gift for my husband. He love architecture and Legos, so it was the perfect combination. He loved the set, and had fun with our 6 year-old son putting it together. However, I was a surprised at how small the end structure is. The size is in the description, but it still is quite small when all assembled. Regardless, it's a nice set to have and...

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun, but too simpistic
As this set was obviously marketed towards an older crowd, I think Lego could have afforded to put a little bit more thought into the actual brick set and less on the packaging in this series. The box and the booklet are beautiful, and so is the finished product, don't get me wrong! But I honestly expected to get more out the experience than I did. I was finished with it...

I was finished with it so fast that it honestly felt really anticlimactic. And while I'm not asking for a super Lego challenge or anything, I think it would have been really nice if they had incorporated a little more detail into the building. Nevertheless, it is a beautiful set and worth collecting.

It took an 8 yo about 10 minutes to assemble the 80 or so legos in the box - to my mind not worth the money as it provides little challenge - I've learned to pay more attention to the description.

The product is lego, so it's solid. It's much more of an adult souvenir than a child's toy, however, since the model is largely symbolic with very little "educational" value. Better as a desk decoration for an ex-pat New Yorker, than a toy for a young'un.

5.0 out of 5 stars My four year old loves this toy, July 4, 2011

My four year old was profoundly affected by a visit to the Empire State Building, and he also loves legos, so this toy was a no-brainer for us. The first time we put it together I helped him, and it looked great on the mantel. Then my son wanted to take it apart and put it together again - he's done it about five times, and pretty much does it on his own. I'm sure he'll do it many times more.

The model's about 8 inches tall - perfect for our small apartment. I understand that other reviewers may want something more complex, but for our purposes it' s been perfect, and has given my son hours of fun. We're buying the Sears Tower next.

2.0 out of 5 stars not 10+, August 27, 2011

We've passed by the kiosk with the architecture at the bookstore a couple times. For a year or so my daughter has always wished she had them. They were pretty. I always said no, because it was rated 10+, and she's not that good at these things yet.

I had to get some work done today, so I brought her to the store and we bought this model. She was done in 10 minutes, and it's not because she's a super smart 6 year old. She was surprised too how simple it was too. We opened it, she made it, and said "that's all?"

This set is a huge disappointment. My 9 year old spent all of 5 minutes completing the set. Nice display for me, but not worth the money.

3.0 out of 5 stars ok, kinda, December 8, 2010
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: LEGO Architecture Empire State Building (21002) (Toy)
My 6 year old son loves the empire state building and loves lego. So I thought this would be a great toy for him. I wish I had read the description a bit more carefully. First, it is pretty small. 7'4" tall includes the mast on top. The width is the base platform, not the actual building. The other disappointment was the time it took to build. With other lego toys my son has taken a couple of hours to build and enjoyed the process the whole time. This time it took him all of 15 minutes to finish. It's seemed like a good idea when I bought it, but in hind sight my money would have been better spent on a different lego kit.

Ok this set is amazing! I'm 10 years old and I love it!It is amazingly accurate and it is completely amazing. It is very educational and is perfect for display. It's not a big play set but it is great for videos.(perfect for percy jackson) The seattle space needle is a bit bigger. And the box is perfect for display.

I love this building. It's not too big, so you can put it anywhere after you are done with it. Looks very very cool.

The only thing I don't like about it is the price. Really? That much for such a small model? I know Lego charges a bunch for their stuff, but come on people.

If the prices weren't so high, I would buy every single one of these models, and put them on shelves around the house. But that's how I am.

Love the LEGO, hate the high prices of them.
