Product Description

From the Manufacturer

The Leaning Tower of Pisa has a trademark tilt that has seen it reproduced on postcards and souvenirs all over the world. Now you can make this unusual building in LEGO bricks. Construction was started over 800 years ago when the Widow Berta of Bernado left 60 gold coins in her will that paid for the first stones and started the building of the Tower. Now you can build history's most famous bell tower and learn how the famous lean started. The instructions and enclosed booklet tell the story of the Tower's fascinating history and how the 56 meter building began its journey into architectural history. This LEGO Architecture model makes a distinctive and fascinating addition to any desk, living room or bookshelf.

If you love Legos and Italy, then this set will not disappoint as it does an excellent job of combining the two! This is my first foray into the Architecture line produced by Lego And I can safely say that it won't be my last. When you open the box you'll find three unnumbered bags and a base plate as well as a survey opportunity and a beautifully bound instruction booklet containing facts about the tower and the set designer.

The build takes about an hour and can be very repetitive, a lot of stacking one brick on top of another. The set does not employ any advanced building techniques. however the method the designer used to cause the model to lean is quite inventive. When your done the finished product is a wonderful display piece with a printed tile which identifies the model as "Leaning Tower of Pisa"

I would recomend this set to anybody who enjoys Legos and is looking for something new. To me the only downside was working with so many small pieces with such large hands. I hope TLG releases a larger version of this monument like they did with the Eiffel Tower (10181) and the upcoming Sydney Opera House (10234)

I got this for my 10 yr old for something to do after he got his tonsils out. He loved it! It was simple enough to do while sick, yet looks amazing. Thanks LEGO!

As with many of the Lego Architecture Series, the scale of size requires building connections that would not normally be considered because they are unstable. This one is somewhat better than the others because the interconnectivity of the walls is alternated as you go up the tower, however, it still remains weak because it uses the smallest pieces and minimal connections between the pieces. Other Lego Architecture Series with similar issues are the Empire State Building and the White House (walls are unstable before attaching the roof).

My 8 year old grandson had a great time assembling this kit! It was repetitive in nature, but lots of fun.

Although not the most exciting or challenging of the Architecture series, I thought the model had some good qualities, mainly how the curve of the outer skin is constructed, and how the lean is achieved. Constructing the tower, however, got dullingly repetitious, though, but given the subject matter perhaps that couldn't be helped.

In my once in a lifetime chance to visit Italy, I got the chance to see this iconic structure in person.

Subsequently, I bought souvenir cups with it on them.

However, once I bought and built this Lego set, I have put away the cups to make way for it!

The build can be rather repetitive, since the layers are identical.

The manner the tower tilt is achieved is very clever thinking on the designers' parts!

To conclude, this is a nice little Leaning Tower of Pisa to display in your cabinet. It serves as fond memories of my Europe visit.

Grandson put it together in a few hours with just a little help from dad.
Each set (so far) also has history information on the particular landmark, so this is also educational.
