4.0 out of 5 stars My 8- and 10-year-olds love it June 21, 2012

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
My kids are huge Lego game fans and are near-completionists of Lego Star Wars, Batman, Indiana Jones, Harry Potter, etc. (come to think of it I need to take them out fishing more often). Anyway, they were not disappointed when they started this up. The voice acting is well done, the gameplay is inventive and endlessly cooperative, and replay value is huge as with all Lego games. Their rating: as good as Lego Star Wars I and II (their most favorite games), better than Harry Potter and Indiana Jones. In 4 hours of gameplay we have had one lock-up so far requiring power cycling of the Wii and two situations where a character or vehicle wass hopelessly trapped requiring restart of the level.

5.0 out of 5 stars Holy smokes Batman! June 22, 2012

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I am very happy with the quality of Batman 2. The games between levels vary greatly between races, puzzles, video arcade style shooting, and avoiding flying objects, and more challenges that did not appear in the last Batman. I'd say it is comparable to Harry Potter years 5-7 in it's difficulty and variation of levels and challenges (there is more to this game than running around and hitting plants/objects to get coins). Like all Legos games this one is just as much fun to play with 2 players as it is by yourself. What I found the most surprising is that the characters actually talk, in the past they simply made noises of delight or frustration in the cut scenes. Great for kids and adults.

4.0 out of 5 stars Holy Bat-Bricks, Batman, it's the Justice League!!! June 20, 2012

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Simply Batastic! Classic Lego graphics, classic Lego gameplay.... The only flaw: that very Classic Lego Gameplay feels redundant at times ( if you've Played Batman ). BUT THIS TIME LEGO opens up the "whole" well ok "more" of the DC UNIVERSE to this brilliant game (and toy) series, I can't recommend these games enough (LORD OF THE RINGS is coming in October). The replay value is off the chart on them,; once you play through the story (stories) you replay in various character combos to find unlockables and to score HERO amounts of 'coin/cogs/caps" the video puzzles are fun for the young, old and the passing comic enthusiast too. Single player or Dynamic Duo co-player it is sure to delight. Last time round there were great Batman character cameos to find like Bane, Nightwing and Red Robin... This time expanded to include the Justice League and more villains than you can shake a stick at. In fact the Joker & Lex team up to do no good... Which behooves Batman and Robin to team up with their Justice League peeps.

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I've been able to play both the Wii and PC versions of this game, a bit obsessively I might add. My 6 year old loves the game. He sometimes needs my help with some of the more confusing puzzles, but there are other instances where I'm amazed at what he is able to figure out on his own. I'm not sure I would have been so savvy when I was 6.

There are a lot of similarities to other Lego games, but just as many differences and enhancements to make it interesting.

I love the enhancements Lego has made to the overall package. The characters talking really makes the story come alive like it never has before. New characters mean new moves and this game has plenty of both. My personal favorite is being able to fly, whether it's with Superman, Green Lantern, Hawkman, Man-Bat, Brainiac or Wonder Woman......to name a few (not to mention Sinestro, General Zod, Hawkgirl, Killer Moth, Supergirl & Martian Manhunter). You can also double click the fly button to give yourself a speed boost, which is especially fun at street level. There is a little bit of a learning curve to flying (it takes a minor amount of practice), but once you've got the hang of it it's a blast! One other bonus, any time you fly around Gotham City (not within the levels) as Superman, you get to hear the John Williams Superman movie score! My heart swells just little anytime I take off as Superman and that music starts. Superhero scores doesn't get much better than that. Also, it's a blast running through the streets as The Flash....be careful if you're prone to motion sickness. You can easily run yourself dizzy.

Now that I'm used to it, I really like having the whole of Gotham City to cruise around. It's extremely confusing at first to get around and I wouldn't recommend it until you've completed the Story Mode.

3.0 out of 5 stars Nice improvement over the original Lego Batman, but buggy September 3, 2012
Platform for Display:Nintendo Wii
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
This seems to fit into a third generation of Lego games for the Wii. The first generation had the stories we're all familiar with. The second, to me, are the ones that split screen so two players can operate more independently. I'd say this is a third generation in that it also incorporates a free-form world that you can explore. This is a significant improvement, but it brings its own challenges.

For my little ones, we were already finding the new Indiana Jones to be a bit challenging in that it doesn't feed you the white circles all the time to perform certain actions. So this version with the driving, the navigation, and the more free-form world is a bit more complex and a bit of a learning curve. But in the end it makes the experience more immersive and not just a repeat of Star Wars Lego Wii, etc. The main issue here is that with two players it is very challenging. It's hard enough to navigate a virtual world but when you cut the screen in half vertically it's REALLY hard. We got in the practice of having one player drop out if navigation was going to be a challenge. They should have split the screen horizontally instead.

Also, flying is REALLY cool! My kids couldn't wait to get Superman! His powers are tons of fun. But flying around in the free form world is a challenge. Controls are inverted like an airplane (i.e. push forward to go down, push back to go up). Unlike other games there is no way to toggle this off. Also, when trying to fly to a destination, Superman hits some sort of invisible wall so you can't move forward. You have to cross sections at the bridges for some reason. No heads up on this one, just several minutes of frustration.

The other big issue here that causes me to dock this another star: very very buggy!
