...and the result is quite worth the price. After a botched attempt by Art Asylum to provide Batbricks to the masses, the LEGO folks, in their infinite wisdom of all things building-blocky, quickly snapped up one of the crown jewels of action-toy licenses. The first wave should fulfill expectations neatly: the Batboat, the Batplane, a neat little Batdragster, and of course, the featured set on this page, the Batmobile.

This set, in fact, features two vehicles - the Batmobile, which bears a slight resemblance to its 1989 film incarnation, and a two-tone customized armored car - and three figures - Batman in a black suit reminiscent of Michael Keaton's time under the mask, a Bruce Timm-inspired Two-Face complete with a two-tone and two-style hairpiece(!), and a henchman in a two-tone shirt. There's also a crossing gate meant for the two vehicles to smash through in pursuit, though most of the kids likely to take an interest in this set will probably chuck that thing first chance they get.

Now for those adults out there who will likely be involved in the task of assembling this set, some patience is recommended. The instruction book takes its sweet time getting to the piece de resistance, but then this is probably meant to provide a build-up or 'prep time' for the whole enchilada. Also it's probably a good idea for your young ones to exercise a bit of caution on the Batmobile's forward-mounted missile launcher - even with a big round soft-rubber tip, that little bugger can travel at quite a clip.

The price for the value of this set is the best among all of the Batman Legos, we own four of the six. The batmobile and Two-face's armored car are excellently designed and quite sturdy, ready for a child's rough play without constantly falling apart. The instructions are very well done and simple enough for children to follow. My only complaint is that most of the blocks are black so it makes following the instructions a challenge because many steps simply disapear in the blackness of the picture so be sure to build in a well lit area to avoid eye strain. While the base models are quite nice, the uniquenes of the legos open up new possibilities that help develop your child's creativity by giving an outlet to their superhero dreams. If your child likes Batman and Lego's like my own then this is a can't miss set.

This is a very good set. I had wanted this set for a long time and finally got my hands on it in 2009. It was well worth the search. This set has 3 minifigures, Batman, Two Face, and Two Face's Henchman, all of which are very nice. They are much better than the current Batman minifigures, in which, for example, Two Face, being Black and White in 2006, is now orange and purple 6 years later, 2012. Anyway, this set is one of the better Batman sets, and has two vehicles, a road barricade, and a wierd thing with a chain on the end. The Two Face truck is very well built, and has a very nice color scheme of white and a dark gray. In the set, the truck, which is suppossed to be heavily armored, has, on either side, small guns that fold out and take aim at enemies. This was a very clever idea of Lego, and adds to the amount of options that come with this set. On the armored truck, there is also a little feature on the back of the truck, there is a white circle that, when pushed, sends Two Face flying off his truck. This was a good idea of Lego, and since the Batmobile has a blunt shooter, as Lego calls it, on the front of it, that was suppossed to shoot the white target on the back of Two Face's truck, but since the blunt shooter is too low, you actually have to lift the Batmobile up. The Batmobile itself it very amazing, being surprisingly bigger than I thought it would be. It is also nicely detailed, picking up from the Michael Keaton Batman Movies (Batman(1989)and Batman Returns(1993), being Hollywood successes). The Batmobile also has a very detailed interior, and a very nice, sleek design. It also features a hidden trunk that can store Batman's weapons, such as a Batarang. The small barricades are a nice addtion as well, as you can send Two-Face's truck crashing through them. This is a good set, and much better than the new one. If you can afford it, buy this set instead of the new one, you will not be disappointed!

I bought this for a really good friend of mine for his birthday a few years back.
He was and still is a Batman fanatic, so this suited him just fine.
I paid something like $25 and he really got a kick out of it.

It's now worth something like $200-$340 for a new one.
His is used, but in great condition, still worth around $160.

I kind of wish I got a few extra boxes for myself.

It doesn't get much better than this. The Batmobile has a cool cannon on the front although I would prefer it on the back, but hey, it's LEGO so I can move it myself! Another good thing about this set is it has lots of playability. The fact that the characters in the set are enemies makes it even more fun to play with. The shooting cannon is meant to shoot a weird-looking target on the back of Two-Face's car that makes the top pop off, but it doesn't work unless you tilt the Batmobile upwards. I like the wings and Two-Face even comes with a coin to flip. It's a very cool set and I give it a 5 out of 5 rating. If you don't like Batman you might think, "I shouldn't get this set," but it has some cool parts for building other creations.
