This Flo's V8 Cafe Lego kit is a little bit on the expensive side, but it is a really great set. The cars have great detail, are solid, and roll beautifully. The two service stations and "launcher" diner are nice props for the cars.
Lego has always delivered solid good building kits. But they hit a brand new high with these cars. The six vehicles have the same chassis that is really rugged with super smooth rolling wheels. The bodies of the vehicles are also equally solid, only Mater has parts that fall off easily (the rear view mirror is a little bit fragile). Otherwise, these cars will survive a ton of driving around the rug, the floor, and crashing into things.
The two service buildings are a lot more fragile. The roofs are removable (they friction fit on the two stands). This isn't a big problem since these buildings won't be rolled around on the floor. One station is for fuel and the other is a car wash.
Flo's V8 Cafe just looks darn cool. The building is solid. There is a big round button on the top that launches cars out of the cafe. Because the building is solid, that button can be whacked pretty hard with no damage.
I have built maybe 200 Lego kits, maybe more. I have never had a single kit with a missing piece. Not one single kit. Well, sadly this kit had one missing piece. The missing part was the most unfortunate in the world; it was the spikey unique car wash wheel. I had to contact Lego to get a replacement. This is super easy to do on line and the part arrived within a few days.
For the Cars 2 fan, this is an outstanding kit. Oh, the build is not hard at all. Yes, I'm a very experienced Leg builder, but I think the average 10 year old could put this together. Lego did a great job numbering the bags, with the vehicles all in one bag. The two service stations were in another bag, and Flo's V8 Cafe was in two other bags.
The worst part of this kit is the price. On piece count, the price is about right (Lego kit prices tend to follow part count). But on the amount of plastic and size of the buildings, this is a bit over priced. Sad but true, the kit is kind of six card and one big building for almost $60. I think that's a high price. If that price doesn't sound bad, this is an excellent kit.

What a unique Lego set this is. It has your favorite Cars characters in great detail. Flo's cafe has fun detail and my kids love the car wash part. A fun set to put together and play with!

My 3-year old and I love assembling things and I thought getting her started on one of my childhood favorite toys would be good bonding. Being that she loves Cars, I thought this set was the most bang for the buck, and it turned out to be better than advertised! It comes with all the main characters in the original Cars movie and is very easy to assemble. We play with them regularly and would probably play more if only her cousins didn't take several of the cars home with them!

LEGOS are always a good toy.
Just wanted to say these are the small LEGOS, classic size. The cars are more complex than I was envisioning so the 7 and up is a good call if the 7 year old is a builder. Read more
