5.0 out of 5 stars Same price as lego store and free shipping!!! August 21, 2009

Wow same price as lego and prime shipping!!!

The reviewer above must not have noticed this is the exact same price as lego store and with free shipping. I will say 2 sets are available here and 1 is [...]$ higher but this isn't it!! great price and great shipping!

Not to mention one of the best sets lego has ever made, it would be worth [...]$ more for the value of play!! From the blacksmith to the stabels to the market! this set is awesome! Definetely going to be worth about 3-4 times purchase price in about 10 years!! great for collecting.

You get a big tree!! 2 cows, 2 chickens, 1 duck, a horse, a carront, a frog, a whole cooked turkey not just it's legs!! apples, flowers, fish!!, a rat, a hairbrush, a bed a dresser, a stove, a fireplace a treasure chest!!

This is one massive set really great! It is not in numbered bags, some will love that, some like me won't!! 1601+ extra pieces and no numbered bags!! Ok it was kinda fun sifting for hours through a mountian of bricks saying, they didn't give me that piece!! Only to find 1 hour later they did YAHHHHHY!!!!

I like that the houses can be displayed open or closed!! The waterwheel on the blacksmiths shop actually drives a hammer on the inside!! That inturn hits a sword on a forge!! really cool!

All in all this is a really cool set, with a little imagination it can be the center of your castle set universe!! I have it on baseplates for display with the king riding by from the castle on his battle chariot, some dwarfs buying flowers at the market!! some dwarfs and knights getting weapons from the blacksmith An Indian riding bareback on his painted steed!! not castle but cool. Some soldiers enjoying some turkey and cheese! with whine straight from the lego barrel included with tap!!

Yeah I can't see anything but 5 stars for this set!! Great Price Free 2day shipping!! Thank you Amazon!!!

5.0 out of 5 stars Kid's Eye View May 14, 2012
A Kid's Review
Durability: 3.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This is a Kid's eye view of the Market Village. I got this set for my birthday, and I had so much fun putting it together. I didn't want it to end, so I dragged it out over about two weeks. It was fun to build, as there are two large buildings plus lots of smaller accessories. I 'm going to break it down I to categories so that you can see exactly what a kid likes and dislikes about this set.
MINIFIGURES. there are 8 MINIFIGURES in this set, which is more than I expected. It's just enough to keep the town active and busy. The buildings are big enough to house the MINIFIGURES. There are only two knights, so they just walk around and check on people. there's enough knights to have a small battle between the knights and villagers, but not a huge bloody battle, which I like. the Minifigure's hair and pants fall off a lot, but I think That' s just in my set. the older boy's hair is ugly, but he mostly hides in the bar in shame. All the others look great and actually authentic.
BUILDING EXPERIENCE . The bags do not come in the order of the steps, so you have to spend some time sorting them. I would recommend opening all the bags straight away and sorting them. this could become annoying and discouraging for younger kids. The steps are defiantly more advanced than some other sets like Hagrid's Hut. there can be a lot of pieces per step, so you have to be careful not to miss any. Otherwise, the directions are easy to understand.
BOX. the packaging was shipped from Amazon and arrived in perfect condition. no pieces were missing, either, which is saying something withb1601 pieces. the box was a little big for the thirteen or so bags, but that just adds to the grandeur of it.
BUILDINGS WHEN FINISHED. when finished, the buildings are appropriatte Minifigure size. there are 8 rooms total in both buildings combined, and each one can fit 4 MINIFIGURES as long as they don' have too many accessories. When you put the bases together, it may look small, but that will look different when finished. the buildings are very sturdy and can open and close easily. they have everything you need for a bedroom, kitchen, stable, bar, and blacksmith shop.
ACSESSORIES. this set has a ton of ACSESSORIES. there's a tree, fish stand, sign, flowers, cows, a duck, hen, rooster, weapon display, whole chicken, hairbrush, food, table, and some more. the tree's branches tend to fall off a lot, but they're easy to snap back on. the blacksmith's waterwheel actually moves the hammer up and down, so you can make a sword. there 's also a treasure chest with shiny coins for the guy with ugly hair to steal. there's a horse for the knights and cows. Lego cows are awesome.
PROS
Cows
Lots of MINIFIGURES
Food
Peaceful
Gold coins
tree for shade
Blacksmith waterwheel
Price per piece - reasonable price for large set
Fun

CONS
MINIFIGURES hair and pants fall off a lot
Tree Branches fall down
Only one horse for the knights, so the other guy has to ride a cow

That 's about it . Hope it was helpful

PS, Did Lego seriously give me horse poop? what are those brown things that go in the horse stalls? i'm using them as bottles, but why would those be on the stable floor? are they potatoes? Or some kind o horse treat?

5.0 out of 5 stars The Devil is in the Detail April 17, 2011
Durability: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Educational: 5.0 out of 5 stars    Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Holy COW!!! there are a lot of tiny parts here. and a lot more then just mini FIGURES. there are ducks and roosters and a couple ox and a horse. they pretty much thought of everything for a village with a market square. this looks a lot like a smaller version of my home town farmers market.

there is a blacksmith here too to make the weapons to sell to the guards. a working water wheel to help the smithy

and in the center of town is a giant tree!!!

they have thought of everything here, right down to the posies, and carrots to feed the horse.

there is more color here then the grand carrosel and it is more durable then it too.

this isn't QUITE my favorite lego set (the imperial flagship) but it is up there in the top five. i will have to look into more of the castle sets
