5.0 out of 5 stars This is a really great game despite what others say April 21, 2013
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This is a really fun game. After completing the first mission of getting the donuts you are free to explore and do whatever you want in the first part of the city. I spent over an hour driving around building buildings and finding new cars and costumes. It was really funny watching the construction vehicles go off the jump. I felt it was like a good guy version of Grand Theft Auto with Legos.

I was really excited for this game to come out. Everyone said that the console version was really great and I hoped this would be as well. I went to read the reviews of the game today since there are few games that I would buy without knowing how it is. Like Mario, Zelda, and Pokémon. I had already preordered Pokémon X.

But when I read the reviews today they all said the same thing. They praised it in the beginning before saying that it had a lot of technical faults like frame rate, low draw distance, and other faults and that it would get a low score. I think they all forget that this is a handheld game. Of course there are going to technical difficulties and its not going to be as powerful as a console. I think some of them forget the 3DS is a handheld not a console.

Its expected for there to be load times given how large each of the areas of the city are. At least they tried to make it better with tips at the bottom. I didn't really run into any problems while racing around the city in the sports car. I don't really mind there being no voices since I think minifigures should talk. I think its funny how they act out what they are saying.

They put a lot of content into this and it is like the console version and that made people think it is when it is a handheld game. Everyone should get this game and play it if you love Legos.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the Greatest Lego Concepts Ever!! April 28, 2013

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
First off, it's Lego, so you know it's going to be fun to play. But this takes it to a whole new level! This has an immense free-roam city made of Lego's and has an excellent story line that makes for a fun game to play. Even if you're new to the Lego video games, it's very simple to play, and the missions don't take hours to complete or make it difficult to figure out what you're supposed to do. The characters are pretty funny, and taking down bad guys is a lot fun. Basically, for everything that you can do, it's well worth the price, graphics are good, even in 3D, and is simple enough anyone can play it, but intense enough that hard core gamers will still get a lot of enjoyment from playing it!!

3.0 out of 5 stars Simple but fun game that kids should enjoy July 13, 2013

I found this to be a fun open world 3DS game with lots of things to do and to unlock. I normally don't play LEGO video games, but this one really appealed to me because it gives the player a large city to explore, allowing you to play missions or just do whatever with the abilities you have unlocked. There are a lot of cars you can drive (including a UFO that hovers above the road), disguises for your character, and a story mode that uses humor to good effect. I don't own a WiiU and therefore haven't played that version, but I've read that the WiiU game is even better than this one, which should make it 5 stars instead of just 3.

I am giving this game only 3 stars because the missions are filled with a lot of the same repetitive gameplay actions. Many abilities require the player to simply find a specific object to interact with and then tap the A button until the task is completed. Also, combat in the game is rather repetitive and uninteresting after only a few battles. If the game had tried to enrich the gameplay more, I'm sure I would have given this game a full 5 stars.

So, if you are happy to simply have a game that's pretty relaxing and has a big city to wander around on your 3DS, I recommend this title. Load times are annoying (about 40 seconds each time you enter the load screen) but you can avoid this somewhat by simply staying in the city and exploring your current area instead of moving back and forth a lot among each section.

I am very pleased with this purchase my son has been begging for this game for months before it was even released.. He would sit every day and watch you tube videos on the game.. I work night shift so I placed about midnight or so while at work and the game was in my P.O. Box not even a whole 48 hours later.. This was the most pleasent experience with Amazon I have expereinced in the 6 years I have been buying from Amazon..

I bought this game from Walmart today. The Wii U version was great, so of course I HAD to get the 3DS one. It's a great game so far! I recommend this to everyone. I don't play a lot of Lego games, but I'm lad I decided to play this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Fun, clean, entertaining, complicated (a good thing) November 13, 2013

I bought this for my 14 year old. I assume he likes it since he's asking me if he can play it pretty much every second of the day! I am enjoying the comments he makes, such as "hey, I can steal cars! Well not STEAL them, but I can just order people out of their car and take off in it". I think he is enjoying being IN CHARGE in that way, since he's a middle child and rarely gets to be in charge of anyone! Also, I appreciate games that are good clean fun, without any of the violent, or scary stuff. This game fits that bill. I wish it had one more "game save" as it only comes with 2, and I have 3 sons. So either one of them has to wait until someone completes the entire game, or we have to buy another copy.
