This was purchased as a Christmas present for my 4 year old girl. Huge wow factor right out of the box! This toy is impressive. Huge, very well made, really beautiful, full of detail, such as a working canon, funny characters, plank, fire, etc. Being a Duplo product, there a lots of possible configurations, for tons of fun and hours of imaginative play. The toy is easy to put together, not as intimidating as the Lego toys for older kids (and won't result in hundreds of pieces throughout the house). Pieces snap together easily. Her 6 year old brother enjoys it just as much. They've also brought it in the water (bathtub) although the ship fills quickly with water from the wheelwells and sinks right away. The kids now only take some of the accessories in the bath with them. Highly recommended.

My son who just adores Pirates in general immediately adopted this as his favorite toy. So, shame on Lego for discontinuing it. It is simply awesome. The toy itself is enourmous, and it floats, well. It actually lets a little water into a chamber at the bottom of the hull which creates stability so it doesn't tip over when floating.
Really there isn't too much to say. If you can get this discontinued product, it has got to be hands down the best Pirate ship toy for a child 2-5 years old. Quality is top notch, my 2 year old can put the figures on the pegs easily its great.
Oh, when your kids get too old for it, you can put normal smaller Legos all over the hull to make the small lego men fit on it, for continued play and enjoyment as a LEGO ship.

My 5 year old loves this ship! He put it together faster than I could read the instructions and has provided lots of imaginative fun time. I would've given it 5 stars if it could float for more than a few minutes. The wheels are a great feature but that's where it leaks.
