5.0 out of 5 stars Good for any Bob fan
I bought this for my 2-yr-old son and he loves it! My 6-yr-old daughter wants to play with it all the time though too. The Duplo blocks are nice/unusual colors and patterns, and are the usual sturdy construction. The backhoe on Scoop is too difficult for either child to put on by themselves, unfortunately, but the rest is fairly easy.

2.0 out of 5 stars Good for Scoop and Lofty vehicles, but that's it.
While my son loves Scoop and Lofty and plays with them a ton, there is basically nothing else to this set, as the pieces you are left won't build much of anything. You can see on the box that you are only able to barely build the facade of a house with a window and two roof pieces, and a frame of a building. You at least get a caravan/little house with a door, windows,...

While my son loves Scoop and Lofty and plays with them a ton, there is basically nothing else to this set, as the pieces you are left won't build much of anything. You can see on the box that you are only able to barely build the facade of a house with a window and two roof pieces, and a frame of a building. You at least get a caravan/little house with a door, windows, and stairs with the Travis set, my pick for the best of the series. Even the Muck set that comes with the recycling bins and chute offers more play value.

With all the vehicles, you can't play heavy with them, as the pieces usually pop off. This set is very pricey, so I would only get it if your child has to have these two characters, becauase that's all you are paying for. It should have come with a little something better to build, especially for the price.

We just got this lego system for our 3 year old son and he loves it! He doesn't want to put it away or out of his sight at any time. The Scoop and Lofty characters are easy for him to assemble and we are working on the little buildings, but he may not be quite old enough yet to assemble them. Overall, this is a great toy for anyone who loves Bob the Builder. We can't wait to purchase the other sets to add to the fun!! Lego always makes great and challenging toys!!

This is a good addition to our son's duplo/quatro/lego sets, letting him integrate two fun Bob the Builder characters into his building repertoire. As another reviewer has noted, there aren't enough other blocks to do much with this set alone. It does, however, offer some dynamic play, such as combining Scoop and Lofty parts into an elongated dual-action vehicle (scoop front, crane back, etc.), as well as integrating some action pieces into buildings (the crane, for example, could be on a stationary building rather than a vehicle, and the vehicle base allows expanded use of other block sets even if the Scoopy and Lofty parts aren't used.)

My son started playing with this at 18 months. He started out with Duplo blocks that come in the big bucket. No interest whatsoever. But as soon as he got this set, it is "Bobby" this, "Bobby" that. His fine motor skills significantly improved, as did his imaginery skills. He is not even 2 and is already having a blast with Legos. Some people might think some of the pieces are "excessive" or "useless," but these concerns are of adults, not of children. My son loves every piece!

My 2-year-old really likes this toy. He got it for his birthday. He likes Scoop, Lofty, etc. the best. The other pieces though, he honestly just treats like Lego pieces - not necessarily trying to build anything specific to Bob-the-Builder. But, great themed toy and Legos are always awesome.

3.0 out of 5 stars Could be better, but not bad, January 8, 2006

The price is a bit lofty (pardon the pun) for what you actually get. A price of $25.00 would be better suited. The main reason I got this for my 2 year old son is the fact that until the age of three, there are no good construction toys on the market. At least, none that look like the things they're supposed to be (Little Tikes and Tonka - please, the stuff looks more like spaceships!). My son just loves construction equipment but since he can't have anything metal at this age, this is the only option. The accompanying parts are really of no value and the inherent problem with Lego theme sets is that there is little option for variation in the construction of the pieces. That having been said, this toy got the biggest smile when he unwrapped it (possibly because of the Bob the Builder theme, but maybe because of the appearance too), and he has been playing with it consistently since Christmas. And I think he will for quite some time.

I am a pediatric therapist so I am picky when it comes to toys. My own 2 year old loves this toy. From a theraputic viewpoint it works on plenty of communication and fine motor skills. We love pretending and playing. I bought all the Bob Lego Toys and we play and play. They are durable and a good value.

My 2 year old loves Bob the Builder so he was very excited to get this. He plays with it everyday for about 20 minutes at a time which is about all you can expect for his age. Lofty and Scoop are very durable and easy to put together. Great quality product with characters he loves.
