This is a great toy because it's a LEGO Duplo truck and because it's a garbage truck.
Preschool kids love LEGO Duplos because they are so fun and easy to play with.
Adults know that LEGO is great for quality in design and safety in materials.

But, parents and grandparents, do consider this: if you're willing to pay this price for this great garbage truck, then consider the value in getting the entire set of urban vehicles (including this garbage truck) in the LEGO DUPLO Community Transport Set.

More trucks, more LEGO Duplo people, more accessories, and a great storage bin too.
This one is great, and the Community Transport Set is this and so much more.

The reason that I love this Duplo truck is that it comes apart into the cab, the dumpster and a flat car base. It also has a pin (male) on the back that you can connect a Duplo train car to. So you can build upon it, take it apart, and modify it in a way that you cannot do with the other vehicles contained in the Community Transport Set. Unlike the other reviewer, "Community Transport" would not be a set I would buy as the bus, cars and motorcycle in that set (as well as those in the gas station or garage set) are monolithic. So while you may put a lego man upon them you cannot repurpose or extend them. This garbage truck even has a place underneath the car for attaching it to a 2x2 brick.

The cab connects to the front of the car base with a hinge and that is not really extendable, nor does the cab have connection holes on the bottom for re-purposing, but it does have lego holes on the top for the removable lights.

Our next purchase will likely be the firetruck that works similarly.

My almost 2 yo was engaged with this right away, as was his older sibling. The pieces move (the cab opens and closes to reveal the engine, and there is a clever system for dumping "trash" into the truck in a satisfying way), and my son was thrilled that the little man can hold the shovel. I would caution that the trash dumping mechanism is a little difficult for small fingers, which has resulted in some frustration, but I'm sure he'll get the hang of it.

I bought this for my Grandson. He loved it immediately! I had four children of my own and I always said that if I could only have one toy in my house, it would be Lego's. They are educational and just plain fun.

Good idea to have the DUPLO line of toys with bigger and less blocks, however, when my kid was 4 stared asking me to get the next line of lego toys and since then he is not using his set of DUPLOS. The fan lasted some few months only.

My son has an endless obsession with garbage trucks. This is apparently a common theme for boys between 1-4. We found a great price on the garbage truck last year and ordered it for him. Even though Duplo hook and ladder truck is his favorite, this is one of his favorite toys a year later.

However for its current price, it's a bit expensive. Unlike the fire truck which has blue flashing stobes and a siren, the orange lights don't do anything. It's a bit smaller than I expected. The included trash bin is a bit hard for little fingers to hook on the back of the truck. Gabage man is a bit generic. He also has the red tractor and the farmer and garbage man look very similar except for the hat. My son really likes the tilting cab once I showed him. Just like the garbage trucks around here, this one is always needing "repair" from the garbage man to fix.

If you can find it for $25 or less, consider getting it. Any more than that and you might want to find fire or police Duplos which have a lot more features than this.

I bought this toy because of the great reviews but was so disappointed. My two year old was extremely frustrated that the pieces did not stay on the truck. The truck is smaller than expected. The can does not attach correctly to the lever and kept falling off. The can is tiny and way too small to fit several (which my child wanted to do)the garbage lego pieces and my child was so frustrated trying to make them fit. I am returning it. I would not recommend this toy based on my child's frustration and my disappointment of not being able to attach the can.

My son really wanted a garbage truck toy for Christmas. I scoured the web for one and couldn't find one under $60. There was no way I was going to spend that much on yet another truck that would be forgotten in a matter of months. This Lego truck happened to be just the right thing. It was reasonably priced and had enough pieces to still be fun for a 3 year old, but not so many pieces that they would all end up lost or driving me crazy.

My 3-year-old son received this for his birthday 2 weeks ago and has played with it everyday since. The truck is very realistic. It comes with a garbage can that clips onto the back of the truck to simulate actually dumping in the garbage. There is also a garbage man and some loose larger legos that are included.

My 7-year-old was curious at first and now not at interested so I think the 3-4 year old preschool range is perfect.

Overall, fantastic for younger kids especially for less than $15.00.

This truck has very few pieces but seemed my grandson liked it and could put other small toy items in the trash can to put in the back. I felt the price was to high for this item. And what I found cheap was the fact that the lights on the top of the truck were fake. I have bought another truck from Lego and the lights worked. ALso if its a trash truck why does it not beep?
