This is a very cute set but it is ridiculously overpriced. If you shop LEGO(dot)com, this item sells for $5.99. That is not their sale price but the ordinary price. Look carefully at the pictures; this set only has 45 pieces.
I love LEGOs but Amazon seriously mislead consumers on what they were getting in regard to the value they are (or rather are not) offering.

My daughter was excited when she saw the Friends line in our Lego catalog and she was not dissappointed when we purchased a few of the sets. She has the outdoor bakery, tree house and designer studio. She enjoyed having a book to guide her building. She has added the two sets to houses I made and her city pizza shop. I like the fact that the set appeals to what is important to her...accessories and creative play. So far we are happy with the 'friends'.

I wish these Legos existed when my daughters were younger - I would have bought these over Polly Pockets in a heart beat! What you need to know:
1. These are fully compatible with all other Lego sets.
2. The colors are customized for girls, especially the girly-girls or princess girls.
3. The people are different than normal Lego people in that the legs are connected and bend just below the hip, the heads are shaped more rounded than the normal Lego head, and the arems are more slender with hands that are not rotatable or or changeable.
4. This set is basically a single person and a few Lego pieces that can make a bakery for your Lego Friends city.
This is a great set for those of us who have girls and want to get something more creative and customizable than most girl toys. Highly recommended.

Stephanie's Outdoor Bakery is a cute little set in the new LEGO Friends line for girls. Though there aren't many pieces due to its small set size, there are plenty of opportunities for posing and play. The set includes a three-piece cake, sink, table with umbrella, one-person stool, and an oven (using the traditional mailbox pieces, but with a clear front!) with extra counter-space next to it.
The new minifigures, or mini-dolls as they are called, are relatively in proportion to the standard minifigure. However, the lack of holes on the back of the legs makes them not "stick" to bricks when in a sitting position. It would also be nicer if their legs could move independently of one another (they move together as a unit) for more posing possibilities. Stephanie's hairdo has a layered look and looks slightly odd from the side, since there's an unnatural amount of space between the hair and neck.
There aren't too many negatives to be said, except for a couple things that would be improvements. The cake doesn't sit well in the bowl that it's supposed to be displayed in. It wobbles because the piece's dimensions are too big for the bowl. Another improvement would be the addition of a plate as small as 6 x 12 (which everything will fit on), to put the set on for display. Adding this will allow Stephanie to stand more easily in her scene. Overall, though, it's a great little set--and it's wonderful to see LEGO trying harder to introduce girls to the world of brick building.

My two daughters have both loved Legos but wished for more female minifigures. When Lego finally came out with a line targeted specially to girls, why did they make the characters incompatible with the traditional minifigs?? Sometimes I feel like the toy industry conspires to make sure boys and girls don't play together. (Remember how GI Joes used to be on scale with Barbies? Kids in my neighborhood - boys and girls - would all bring their dolls/action figures to play together.) I'm sure the intention was to compete with Polly Pockets, but I think Lego messed up a great opportunity.

This past Christmas, I finally found the secret to getting my girls to play with Legos: pink. Specifically, LEGO Pink Brick Box (5585). But while I appreciated seeing them build (and re-build!) the little house/stable, I couldn't help but notice the poor minifig, which was undeniably boyish.
This new line from Lego is truly intended for girls. The minifigs are much softer looking, yet still have interchangable hair and have hands that fit all existing pieces. The only downside is that these figs don't have holes in the back of their legs, so you can't get them to stick to other Legos in a sitting position like the original figs. Ah well, we'll get used to it.
This kit is fun, but TINY. I mostly got it for the minifig, which is good, since the rest of it, once assembled, doesn't amount to much. But I've definitely whetted the appetite of my girls for this new line and they're clamoring for more, so I may invest in a more substantive set shortly.
If you're looking for a new twist on Legos to get a little girl to start building, I definitely recommend getting this!

Stephanie's Bakery
My niece was never a bif fan of lego's until she saw this product. She now plays with her legos while her brother plays with his. Lego Friends is great for young girls.
