3.0 out of 5 stars Not to Shabby
As a fan of Harry Potter and Lego's I thought that this would be a real treat. It turn's out that it's not all that great. The chamber's are to small to really do anything with the figurines. If your a collector it will be a welcome addition to your collection.

Only then will they be able to pass into the Chess room to play the ultimate battling game. This set includes Harry, Ron, the White King, a broomstick to catch the keys with, five flying keys, a chamber for the keys, and a chamber with nine Chess squares. This set becomes more intresting when you combine it with these sets: #4702 The Final Challenge and #4706 The Forbidden Corridor. I highly recommend this fantastic, high flying set.

This set can be combined with the castle to make it look bigger and more like Hogwarts should. . .however, the "winged keys" are stuck into lego blocks that keep falling out of their slots at random intervals. It would have been better to have an apparatus holding a mobile of keys that spun around. This set comes with Harry, Ron, and a chess piece for the 3 by 3 chess board tacked onto the side of this set. Oh, you also get a broom for harry to chase after the keys that are embedded into the wall. Lego could have put more thought into this set but its an okay expansion of the castle. Durable and educational with lots of replay value allthough the set up is very weak in connection with the story it should be portraying. Go with the Forbidden Corridor instead.

5.0 out of 5 stars The chamber of winged keys--175pcs--#4704, March 17, 2002

This set is a must have. It is one of the challenges protecting the Sorcerer's Stone. Well, actually 2 challenges in one. It has the winged keys chamber, and the chess game, but the chess game isn't so good. It is a 3 by 3 square board, and only comes with 1 chessmen. It is small, and you can't do much with it. The chamber with the keys is cool. It comes with a good amount of keys that you can add wings too. It's just like all the other keys you find in other lego sets, but you can just add wings to them. The set includes Ron, Harry, and the chessmen. It comes with a broom, keys, and so much more. The set is ok, and is fun to play with. It is an essential set if you want to get to the Sorcerer's Stone. All in all, it is still a cool looking set.

I love The Room of Winged Keys, version of the Harry Potter Lego series, however I wish it came with more peices. Like the chess game is more symbolic then actually functional. I guess I want more pieces for my buck. And why wasn't Hermione included in this set?

4.0 out of 5 stars Not the high point of LEGO's Harry Potter sets, February 5, 2003

I'm a big fan of LEGO's Harry Potter sets (not surprising, given my 300+ LEGO sets and pre-order for the fifth book!) but I was somewhat disappointed with this set. Like several of the sets based on the first book/movie, this one is somewhat sparse and fragile (There are no walls, only pillars to hold up the roof). The keys in this set are oddly attached to the walls, and bumping into the set even slightly causing them (and the bricks to which they are attached) to go flying.

On the other hand, this set contains a nice assortment of parts with a good color scheme, so it's easy to build your own more satisfying models (especially if you combine it with pieces from a few other Harry Potter LEGO sets). If you're only buying one or two of the sets, I'd go with one of the others, but if you have several of them already and enjoy creating your own models, then this would not be a bad addition to your collection.

3.0 out of 5 stars Fun, but needs to be a bit sturdier and bigger, December 31, 2001

My 9-year old and 6-year old sons received several HP sets for Christmas and they love them for the play acting value. However, the rooms need to be designed bigger for even their small hands to fit inside of without breaking apart the pieces which greatly dimiminish my fun and durability ratings. Also when we tried to attach several of the sets as suggested in an insert to the lego sets, we found them not to be too sturdy without some of our own redesign and support from our own legos. For the Harry Potter fan, these are just too cool but would benefit greatly by some Lego redesign for children's play.
