I've purchased MANY sets of LEGO bricks over the past 2 years, enough to annoy my parents. I own two of this particular set because I like it so much (and I wanted to stage a crusade).

The only thing I dislike about this set (and I'm guessing that any kid will LOVE it) is the wall behind the arch, it isn't connected to anything. This is meant as a play "feature", so that the catapult can knock it down. As a 22 year old, I prefer to keep my sets on display rather than play pretend with them, and it makes transporting this set from up high away from my little brother to the floor for him to play with it a little bothersome.

Overall I would recommend this as a gift, I would recommend this for display, and I would recommend it as a great part of the Kingdoms set.

4.0 out of 5 stars Great medium size LEGO set, March 31, 2011

This is great and easy set to build. It came with 3 minifigures for pretend play. My son loves to build this and take it apart and build it again. Too bad the castle was kind of small after it was finished.

My 9 year old son could not wait to build this set though he got several for Christmas. He loves the catapult and has learned quite a bit about ancient times and war tactics as a result of asking about this device. It did not take him very long to build and he has been playing with it quite a bit since. As always, Lego comes through with an excellent product- fun, imaginative, durable and educational.

My kid likes minifigures and special pieces, and this set delivered. Getting 3 minifigures in a set less than $20 is somewhat rare, and it was set up in a way that two kids could play with it instantly. They were pretty amused with the window that falls out. We need more sets like this!

5.0 out of 5 stars One of the more sturdy Lego's, September 24, 2011

This Lego is great to assemble and once it's all put together, it stays that way. Nice solid reinforcement along the columns and the outpost is nice too. Some of the pieces like the wheels are a new concept here, one that we have no seen in any other Lego so far. Comes with stickers as well. Our 4 year old put this together by himself with no supervision (reason I mention that is because when I am going through reviews, I am always looking for the age of the child to see if the toy would be appropriate for our sons). This is a great and not exorbitantly expensive Lego. Recommended!

Bought this for my son's birthday. The tower isn't quite as large as I'd hoped, but as with most all Lego products is very stable and easy to put together.

Was a Christmas present, not a holiday present, for my son. He was happy and enjoys putting Lego's together. He's happy, I am happy. Enough said. He would probably give this item all 5's.

5.0 out of 5 stars Nice entry level kit for the Kingdoms line, August 21, 2011

We bought our oldest daughter one of the Lego mini figure fairytale assortments off of Amazon a few weeks back and included in the set were several knights and princesses. Because of these figures, my 6yr old daughter decided that she needed a castle for the princesses to live in and this was the perfect entry level kit. The princesses now have a home and dad doesn't have to spend $90 on the full size Kingdoms castle (not yet anyhow). Easy to assemble and has some neat parts. I think we'll end up with a few more kits from the Kingdoms line as my daughter is having a blast playing with this set and the princesses. As I've commented about before, I just with Lego would offer more "girl" mini figures for the girls to play with -- so many of the kits include only male figures.
