Product Description

LEGO Movie 70807 MetalBeard's Duel

From the Manufacturer

Arrr, me hearties! MetalBeard lost his body parts in a previous battle with Lord Business, but has rebuilt himself from old ship scraps to become more powerful than ever. Now, the giant Micro Manager is challenging him. Grab the pirate sword from the holster on his back and fire the cannons on his left arm. Protect his prized parrot and the treasure chest containing his body parts and act fast before the Micro Manager fires missiles and grabs the construction foreman with its claws. Includes 3 minifigures: Skeletron, Robo SWAT and Frank the Foreman.

Kids loved it.

It's like the type of thing you would build when you were a child, but well crafted so it does not fall apart.
Chris Wagner
Love the parrot and the Micromanager is very cool as well.

Like many others, I immediately fell in love with MetalBeard's character. He ticks all of my boxes: He's a giant Steampunk pirate mech, he's voiced by Nick Offerman (Ron Swanson from Parks and Recreation), and he's got one of THE coolest LEGO ships ever, The Sea Cow.

MetalBeard is clearly the star of the set, but I also really enjoy the huge Micro Manager build for him to fight. The minifigures are top notch as well--Skeletron, Robo Swat, and Frank the Foreman (when you say his name, he giggles heartily!) really add to the charm of the set.

One small thing that bothers me is that MetalBeard isn't quite screen accurate. While all the other characters and set are exactly spot on to their film counterparts, the finished MetalBeard in this set doesn't quite match his surly self.

I've compiled a list of very small changes that can be done with the extra pieces given to you in the set:
1) Flip the flame piece on the hat the other way
2) Remove the grey plate under the lock, put the lock piece on the 2nd chest stud, and place an extra gold stud to the right
3) Attach the 3rd chain they give you to his left gold arm piece and right below the left chain
4) Place a flat grey stud on the remaining open spot on the right gold arm piece
5) Remove the grey piece from his left hand's thumb (noticed that on my 3rd viewing)

These are very small fixes, but they really add a lot of charm to the character and makes it look like MetalBeard swung out of the film!

Great lego set. It's like the type of thing you would build when you were a child, but well crafted so it does not fall apart. Plus, it has a shark on the arm. Shark PUNCH. SHARK Punch.

SHARK PUNCH!!!!!

From the first wave of sets based on The LEGO Movie, this is the one that automatically jumped out at me as the set I needed to buy first. I'm a sucker for a good robot-style build, and this one includes two great examples with very different designs.

The Micro Manager is built first, and reminded me a lot of an AT-ST or AT-RT from the Star Wars theme. The legs can be a little difficult to pose, but it's still relatively stable and the arms can be moved in in several different configurations. The missiles and hatch on the top offer some extra play features as well.

MetalBeard himself looks like somebody took the best parts of a pirate ship and threw them all together with a little bit of a steampunk twist. It sounds strange, but it really just works and the finished product is nothing short of amazing. He is well detailed at all angles and is extremely sturdy. The only flaw I found is that it can be kind of hard to get him to hold the sword in certain poses.

The minifigs are all great. The light grey robot skeleton is a welcome addition to the family, especially the legs in that color.

The builds on both mechs are pretty straightforward. The finished product is great and should provide hours of entertainment for young builders. The parts selection for the whole set is also top notch, with several elements included in certain colors for the first time. There's definitely plenty to do with the parts from this set after you get bored with battling robots and want to create something else.

If you've always wanted a Lego of Ron Swanson this is the set for you.

Also when I put a minifig in the Micro Managers claw, my cat likes to bite it's head off so this is a good toy for cats too.

The Micro Manager is pretty durable, but Metalbeard always has pieces falling off of it. The minifigs that come with it are cool too. It has a lot of pieces that are useful for other builds too.

Also, this is the first Lego set I can remember building in maybe 25 years that was missing a piece. I have a ton of Legos though, so I was able to build it anyway. It was a dark grey 2x1 brick missing. When complete, it's hidden, so you could really use any color - but I was surprised that it was missing. They're usually very good about that.

A magnificent Lego set of the incomparable Metalbeard from the fantastic Lego Movie. I guess it has a spiffy Micromanager too, and some cool minifigs. I am entirely satisfied with this spectacular purchase.
