To note: the official Lego price for this set is $24.99. As of the date of this review, Amazon is offering this set at the Lego-direct price, which is great.

This set includes 198 pieces.. so at $25 the price is higher than 10 cents/piece. It would have been nice for this set to be priced at $19.99, but the inclusion of 3 minifigs still makes this set well worth the price.

Shredder and Donatello are very very detailed, with a lot of printing on the figures, accessory pieces, a cape for shredder, and weapons for all figures. The foot soldier actually comes with two swords, despite one sword in the picture.

Shredder's bike is very well constructed. A number of unorthodox building techniques are used, with interesting pieces. It's a fun build even for experienced builders, and the finished product looks great. The bike does include stickers (black stickers on the bike's flag), but they apply easily and are properly sized for the square flag pieces. The map in shredder's hand, and all of the detail in the mini figures, is printed directly on the pieces

Donatello's skateboard(?) is great too.. and is unique from the other standard skateboards included in the other Ninja Turtles Sets.

This set, along with 79103 Turtle Lair Attack and 79100 Krang Lab Escape will get you all four Turtles, Krang, Shredder, Splinter, and a few foot soldiers for about $90 total.

Overall I highly recommend this set for all Lego and Ninja Turtles fans.

I love that LEGO has released TMNT sets. I grew up with TMNT in the early 90s and were my 2nd favorite toy (behind LEGO). So now that both are combined, how could I resist??

This is the only way to get Shredder in this wave of sets, so I had to pick it up. And he does not disappoint. It is based off of the new cartoon on Nickelodeon, but it still feels like the cartoons that I was used to. Shredder gets new bladed shoulder pads and a beautiful rendition of his helmet. His claws are reused from other themes, but they work extremely well here. I love that you get a Foot Soldier in every set. The soldier is very plain, but seemingly identical to what I'd expect from a LEGO foot soldier. This is also the cheapest way to get Donatello. Each of the turtles has 2 face variations and I much prefer this one to the Baxter Robot Rampage set.

The bike is large and extremely out of scale compared to the figures, but it is sturdy once built. It rolls really smoothly and my daughter enjoyed pushing it around before she dismantled it.

Figures: 5/5 Outstanding seeing them in LEGO form!
Price: 4/5 I would have preferred seeing it at closer to $20
Set/Pieces: 3/5 As a MOCer, I can't really reuse too many of these pieces, but the set itself is a fun set.

I would highly recommend this set, although I would wait for a sale. The figures alone make it a must have purchase.

This set contains three minifigs (Donatello, Shredder and a Foot Soldier), the Dragon-bike and a motorized skateboard.
Coming the minifigs, I’ll start with the best one, Donatello. I think LEGO has done a very good job with the Turtles minifig; Donatello looks amazing! Nice printing on his torso (back and front) and on his legs. The Turtle shell is pretty nice. But one complaint I have about the shell is that you have to put it around the neck. And then, when you look at the turtle from the front, it’s very clear that there’s something around his neck, which I feel spoils the look. Instead, the shell should have been part of the torso’s back. Then it would have been better. The headpiece is the best part. It’s fantastic. Donatello carries his “staff” which is an actually lame assembled weapon. I don’t like the assembled weapons that LEGO makes. Since weapons are small pieces, why can’t LEGO make weapon from a single mould rather than assembling it?
The Shredder is another great minifig. He’s one of the Iconic characters in the Turtles Theme…and so it’s more big reason for Turtle fans to buy this set! His shoulder armor is good. There’s good printing on his torso (only on front, not on back) and legs. His helmet/headgear is awesome! He has or rather “carries” claws (exactly like Wolverine). I wish LEGO would NOT repeat the same weapons for different theme. The designer should have designed claws that fit around the wrist rather than making the minifig carry the claws. The cape that Shredder wears is the standard LEGO cape. It’s very stiff, like paper. Wish LEGO would use softer material for capes.
The last minifig is the Foot soldier. He looks ok. Same priniting as the foot soldier from other Turtle sets. He carries a sword. There’s an extra sword in this set, so good.
