LEGO has been around for more than 40 years, and now the company is beginning to make its mark in the realm of video games. Building things is synonymous with the LEGO franchise, and building your vehicle with virtual LEGO bricks is quite rewarding and very easy to do in LEGO Racers.

This game allows younger gamers and LEGO fans to construct their own cars, select and customize their own drivers, and then take to one of the 25 different tracks in one of four different worlds. Hidden within each of the different tracks are some power-ups that will supercharge your car and give it a boost of power that will help you blast your way to the front of the pack. Finding the power-ups and racing against the other five drivers in this game is half the fun.

One really cool feature allows you to save your driver and car and link up via the Game Boy Color Game Link cable to battle it out against one of your pals (provided, of course, that your friend also has a copy of the game). If you want to go it alone, the five computer-controlled drivers in the game will offer up some competition, but not enough for serious racing-game fans. The AI in the game isn't stellar, but, then again, younger gamers like to win, and this game delivers an incredible gaming experience for budding Game Boy Color enthusiasts.

The game's graphics are on par with other Game Boy Color titles and the controls are solid. The instructions are easy to read and follow, and, as a result, the gameplay is simple.

Serious gamers who are LEGO fans might want to check this title out, but keep in mind that this is LEGO Racers were talking about, not Test Drive 6. --Todd Mowatt

Try your luck against five other LEGO racers on over a dozen unique tracks each based on traditional LEGO series. Speed through the swashbuckling seas of Space Pirates, see what's in store for your character in Adventurer,; or gallantly rev it up in the Castle setting. Many of the familiar faces from the age-old series of toys make appearances Sam Grant and Captain Redbeard, among others, show up as drivers. There are also plenty of secret items and important shortcuts to discover, so keep your eyes on the road at all times. We bought LEGO Racers for my brother on his 8th birthday. He loves it. Here's how you play: First-You design your player. You pick his outfit, and his/her name. Second-You design his/her car. You choose the color and what LEGO's to put on the car. Third-Race. The main thing you would race in are the "Circuit Races". A circuit race has three races w/ diferent settings, 3 laps per race, and 4 computer players you race against. You get certain points for being in whatever place in each race and if you are in 3rd place or higher at the end of the circuit, you go onto the next circuit race. You also get new LEGO pieces for your car. When racing, you can pick up LEGO pieces to use as one use tools in the race, such as GREEN-makes you go faster RED-can shoot other cars down BLUE-is used as a sheild etc. Then there is the "Single Race" its when you choose how many opponents and laps. And the "Versus Race" when you can race a friend with the game link. The only reason I gave this game 4stars is because it was a little too easy for me. I would recomend giving LEGO racers to someone 6.5-9.5 years old. Overall this is a great game! Allie

I like it more than Looney Toons Racing! It's cool to create your driver and car and you earn more bricks as you become a better racer. If you love legos then buy this game.

I found this game a bit on the dull side but,thats because I have the computer game.I found it simple to master.another downside is the cars,you can only put on three pieces!I gave it 4 stars cause you might lose occasionaly.
