Alien abducted Farmer Fred! (a kid's review),

Took about an hour to build, this is another cheaper Alien Conquest set. The ship is kind of stereotypical of a flying saucer, so it is a little boring! But love the light brick and the abduction mechanism! Very fun to act out in the dark! I would love to have the Alien Mothership set but my parents said that is too expensive. Looks like another fun set.
LEGO Space Alien Mothership 7065 The pieces are highly reusable for your own creation, especially if you missed out on some retired Lego Star Wars sets that are extremely overpriced in the marketplace! Bravo for the Aliens!

my husband bought me this last night and it's REALLY ADORABLE!!! kinda expensive, but it does have a ton of plastic in it, so i guess it's not too bad.
easy to put together, very well built, comes with extras of a few of the more fragile/tiny parts in case you break or lose some, and even has a little battery-generated red light that you can flash!!! it's really funny that one of the little people looks just like Edgar Suit from MIB! gotta love vinny! i had a ton of fun putting it together and watching it become my own little UFO. next? tripod invader!!! not really something i'd give a kid to play with, but a great collector's item for an old girl like me!

The LEGO UFO Conquest sets are unexpectedly popular for my 9 year old,

This is not a theme I was expecting him to like, but for his 9th birthday this is what he asked for...crazy isn't it--no movie or cartoon tie-ins or super-duper advertising blitzes (at least not for us on our limited TV access). This is just plain fun and he gets to fire up his imagination! He got three sets for his birthday (brother, parents and grandparents actually coordinated) plus a couple smaller pieces (the dog was generous),and the Abduction saucer was his first choice to build. He had it done in about an hour and a half, and much to my husband's disappointment, the kiddo put it together by himself using the directions. Of course he is a master LEGO builder, but Pop does like to help! Fun, imaginative, and age & difficulty level appropriate--great choice for my newly-turned 9 year old! Plus he now has a new scenario in which to engage his previously constructed Space Fleet (my husband bought a 10 pound random piece lot from ebay and the two put about 95% of the pieces to use construction an amazing fleet out of all the spare parts). Perfect to use with the Alien Conquest! Highly Recommended! JTG edited to add: Well, maybe there is some media blitz going on with these, I just spotted 'Alien Conquest' on CNN's "Hottest Holiday Toys of 2011". My son glommed onto these by looking in his Lego magazine (which has tons of stuff, not just the Alien stuff) and looking at the boxes in the local exchange. Like I said, he thinks they are great---and he isn't watching any big glitzy ads, he's just playing with them!
