My 10 yr old grandson asked for this toy for Christmas. Although it was fun building it initially, it doesn't have as much "replay" value as other toys, like the Castle legos do. He did use some of its parts with his other Legos to make different things. He says it wasn't as much fun as he thought it would be, it has no "pizazz". He is a big SpongeBob fan, but this toy just "isn't exciting enough". He liked the Bikini Bottom Express better.

This is really a cute set. The crabby patties are just adorable, and the kids love playing with all the minifigures. However, this set takes a very long time to construct and once it's done, well, it just doesn't stay together very long at all and will not withstand much play. This one actually brought some tears because it just took SO much time and when it was done, fell apart so very quickly. If you're looking for the minifigures, then go ahead and try to find it on sale somewhere like we did. But if you're looking for a set that will withstand play, well, I'd suggest getting something like Indiana Jones or Power Miners.

However, I do recommend this set somewhat because of the uniqueness of it and I honestly think it will be a collector's item in time. But if you're looking for something that will withstand play, skip this one for sure and go for the more durable sets.

This is a pretty fun set that took a good amount of time to put together (5 hours) and the minifigures are cool and so are patricks car spongebobs leaf blower and squidwards grill. The main problem is that the pineapple is very hard (and annoying) to put together. This would be a good set for people above the age of 9 with lots of patience (like me) if you can get around the annoying pineapple then the set is pretty fun. and also when i ordered the set 2 pieces were missing :(

however even though there are some big flaws with the set i would recommend it

so we bought this set for her at the Orlando Lego World store. Agree with other reviewers that the durability of the set is a drawback (the roof - which is ingeniously engineered - does not stand up to kid play). The figures are great, but there are items in the set that none of us can tie into the show at all (the grill and the bistro table). And where is Squidward's clarinet?!?! To be fair, the clarinet is not pictured on the box, nor is it in the contents list, but one would think that a Spongebob playset with a Squidward figure should have a clarinet. The interior of Spongebob's pineapple is well done, and Gary is the best. My real complaint is with the decals.... years ago, Lego began to screen print (or heat emboss) printed details onto bricks to do away with decals and enhance the ability to recreate the sets over and over again. Apparently, no more. The way the TV (in particular) is constructed, in order to break it back down, you have to peel off a decal! What's even more frustrating is that there are some heat-embossed pieces included in the set (such as the temperature indicator on the grill).

My daughter plays with it once or twice a month when the weather shuts down outdoor play. Overall, average to just above average.

Not good for 5 and 6.5 year old boys.
I put it together and the boys just keep trying to play with it and it falls apart.
Very disappointed.

This gift served as a gift for my 7 year old grandson's birthday party 2 weeks ago and also as his cake decorations. I had it delivered to my dauaghter's house so that my grandson could get it early. He along with his older brother assembled it together and then my daughter used all the different parts to decorate his cake. It was the talk of the party.
