EDIT: Please note that the Boba Fett figure is made of an inferior plastic compared to previous incarnations. The torso on mine has a hairline fracture running between the arms and the legs due to the legs simply being attached.

Slave 1. Death Star and Millennium Falcon side, Slave 1 is one of the more iconic sstarships of the Old Trilogy. This fearsome ship is shown only in Empire Strikes Back and only in two scenes; the Cloud City scene and when the Millennium Falcon passed the Star Destroyer in the Asteroid field. Even from these brief two scenes, Slave 1 quickly, like its owner, grew in popularity and there have been three versions of this fearsome ship made. Today the fourth and current redesign of the classic ship arrived on my doorstep. I'm so excited that this review might end up being my most thorough review yet.

BOX: The box is big. The 2006 Slave 1 was about $50 and the box was roughly the size of a 1/100 scale gundam box (i.e. about the size of a standard year book). This set is about $30 more and the box is more. It is easily comparable to a computer CPU. On the front of the box is the picture you see in the description. On the back the various functions of the set are shown (more on those later, and three pictures of the other new sets this year. Also on the sides, there are tabs so the box can be resealed 'Tab A-into-Slot B' style.

BOX CONTENTS: Open the box and three large, clear plastic bags topple out along with two instruction booklets. If you think there is a mistake, you are wrong. That is right; it takes two instruction booklets to make this model. On the first pace of booklet 1 it shows that each back is a step. Bag 1 makes the minifigs, holds their items, and makes the base disc with firing mechanism. Bag 2 has the wings and main body.

This is a great set I love it! So I'm gonna get right down to the pros and cons. Overall I'd rate it a 5 star lego set.
Pros
-New Boba Fett minifigure with new blaster rifle!
-New Bossk
-It has 4 push-the-button fire missles, a secert compartment that holds two blue flick-fire missles.
-New Han Solo in carbonite, where you put the minifigure inside it!
-The set has a awesome design
-The underside looks awesome
-Just overall the set is fantastic!!!
Cons
-When I first got it the push the button missles wouldn't fire
-Some pieces kept falling off
-Also the cockpit is a little dull not like it appears in the movie.
-The push-the-button missles don't go that far
Yep so those are the pros and cons, but if you saying no to it because you think it costs too much then you should know that it pays for itself with fun in a matter of days.
Neutral
-Honestly I don't why they put the Bossk in, maybe it was to complete the bounty hunter scene in episode 5 where all the bounty hunters are lined up.
-Also I still don't like how the wings swing to the angle you hold it. I think you should be able to adjust it yourself.
I say its a 10 out of 10. Well another great review
Thank you for reading

My 6yo son got the Lego Slave 1 for Christmas. He absolutely loves it! It wasn't too difficult to put together and the "extras" are really interesting and fun. For example:

- Boba F. rotates w/ the ship.
- The cockpit opens easily.
- The ship's cargo door works perfectly with Han S. in carbonite.
- Several doors containing hidden guns/missles/treasure box/gun storage.

As with all other Legos, you do have to be somewhat careful with it. The wings and missle door have a tendancy to break off (but are easy to reattach....). Overall, it's a great model...especially for a Star Wars fan (Boba F. is way too cool...). My son says it is "awesome" and "fun" too.

At first when I started building it on the carpet, it fell apart. Be sure to build it on a table. Some of my favorite things about this toy are: the button on the back that you can push to shoot missles, all the hidden cargo spaces, when its flying, the wings stay even (as well as the seat), and the Han Solo frozen in carbonite.

My son loves this set and so do I. It has many strengths:
- Excellent mini-figures (Boba Fett and Bossk); Bossk;s head has great detail and its sturdy material is an improvement over some of the softer materials for complex Star Wars alien heads
- Extra equipment (e.g., guns, antenna, helmet augmentations, cape, armor pieces, etc.)
- Unusual pieces
- Carbonite slab that allows the storage of Han Solo underneath
- Good color and piece placement; I like the crimson pieces and the elaborate engine design on the "bottom" of the ship
- Many moving parts (guns, missiles and missiles bay door, concealed pivoting missiles, wings and three storage areas with doors)
- Large size (it would have to be, but its size is still impressive)
- General Lego quality and playability

Its weaknesses include (the majority can be remedied with some extra thought and a handful of pieces):
- The upper wing struts are rather fragile
- The loading dock door should be reinforced as it is rather fragile on the edge
- Some of the doors/hinges are not sturdy enough for young hands to play with and may become detached, leading to complaints and (sometimes) repetitive requests for assistance
- The cockpit controls and seat lack imagination or meaningful design effort beyond the control plate
- The canopy is not hinged -- it merely snaps into place (this is accurate for the ship, but still a minor disappointment)

Other items that are not exceptional, but should not be considered true weaknesses -- they are common to most Lego sets and understandable -- are the flick missiles and instructions that do not point to the location of all piece placements. This toy is a tough build for most children under 8, which justifies the 9-14 age recommendation. However, my 6 year-old loved building it with a few corrections and a little help from me.
