5.0 out of 5 stars BATTLE DROID, April 10, 2000
By A Customer
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: LEGO Star Wars Battle Droid (8001) (Toy)
The Battle Droid looks very much like the Battle Droid in the movie. It is very durable and has many moveable parts. In fact, almost every part is moveable on the Battle Droid. There is at least 10 new parts on this Lego. You can even make it pull out its blaster which is located on the left side of his pack. The Droid even folds up like in the movie. You can make three different types of Battle Droids, Commander, Secrity, and the regular old Battle Droid.

This was the first Star Wars droid that I purchased, when I saw the film I thought "I've gotta get one of those." Don't be put off by its complex looks and the 'flimsyness' of it, believe me it won't break when you drop it. (I've tried!) The Droid basically does all that it did in the movie: Fold up/down, draw out his gun (automatically), and all the natural joints in its body work, it can even stand up on its own. The model will take no time to build if you are a Lego enthusiast. Which means you will go through the same step as I did: "I need another one!" Unfortunately, however, I wouldn't advise you to buy this for your 7 year old kid unless 'Daddy' is on hand to help when it all suddenly falls apart during construction. It is a challenge but it is worth it for the end result... A real Star Wars Battle Droid.

I think this is one of the best LEGO Technic toys to date. One thing I particularly liked about this toy is it comes with the parts to make your battle droid a normal droid, security officer, or a commander. I also liked the "pop-up" function where it stands up and grabs its gun. I believe older children and adults would enjoy this.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Best Toy You can ever get during the holidays!, December 4, 2001

I don't have this special toy but my friend Andy has it. He brought it on the school bus and I folded it up and unfolded it with the switch on its back. It can also grab its gun by turning a weele on the back to make the arm reach back and grab the gun with a magnet on the hand. It's really tall and it is full of detail, looks just like the one in the movie(StarWars Episode1 The Phantom Menace). If you bought this toy it would help learning skills of the person you are giving it to.

My twins and I built this elaborate mechanical droid in one sitting and enjoyed its articulation and "fun-ness" as my son says. It even endured a show and tell visit at their school. My son is explaining that he even dropped it... YOU DROPPED IT? WHY I OUGHTA... and it didn't even break!

5.0 out of 5 stars Versatile toy... great aesthetic, January 21, 2001

I was very pleased to play with this toy after not touching legos for nearly five years. It was a real trip down memory lane with some of the pieces(of which, only the feet constructs seem overly-specialized). For example, the shoulder is a pleasant cream-tone throwback to the old trains wheels. I've also had fun playing with the pieces in non-droid form... for being designed so specifically, this particular set gives you a large amount of options for building tech-looking things that move variously. A little light on gear tech, but the many bands make up for it. The secondary model included in the well-written manual, a bird-like AT\ST walker (Chewie take control of one on Endor in Return of the Jedi) is nearly as cool as the droid... except for that fetching gun fetching trick.

5.0 out of 5 stars "Roger Roger.", March 10, 2002
= Durability:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: LEGO Star Wars Battle Droid (8001) (Toy)
What a great set! The battle droid is a very movie accurate model, from the colorations (3 different choices you can build, a battle, security or commander droid) to the look of the folded up model. This is also a very durable model, I've folded and unfolded mine dozens of times and have not had any problems. The magnetic grip on the blaster is a cool feature too, as the technic figure hands are not always the best a holding things. Assembly was fairly easy, with out too many snags, if your patient and follow the instructions slowly. The Battle Droid is one of my favorites out of the Technic figure series so far and holds a hallowed place atop my TV set.

I like the BATTLE DROID a lot. I am 9 years old. I learn a lot from the BATTLE DROID, like how it was when it was turned off. The BATTLE DROID is very cool.

This is the first lego technic set ive ever gotten. i've played with the regular old lego since i was a kid and i loved it ever since and when i saw this battledroid i had to have it because i am also a Star Wars fan. This toy is very durable and fun at first then it gets kind of boring but it looks good on display because it can stand up on its own! i especially like the part that the droid can grab hi gun from the pack on his back.

4.0 out of 5 stars Battle Droid, April 20, 2001

This is a good toy for lego collectors! It gets boring after a while, though, unless you're one of those people who like to control stuff. You know. Like playing with little cars that do nothing unless you push them. For people who like that stuff it won't get boring. I'm not saying the Battle Droid doesn't do anything. I'm just saying it gets a teency bit boring. It pulls out its gun, and it folds and unfolds. You might like it, you might not. It just depends on what kind of person you are.
