This is a great Lego set for kids and collectors alike. The model is very close to the movie model and contains an odd-looking "buzz droid."
PLAY: Very sturdy for "swooshing" and attacking Jedi and Republic ships alike. The fighter is easily flown through the air with one hand. Construction uses Lego clicking joints, allowing for a uniform, symmetrical shape on all three axes. There are some stickers for this set, but they do add a great deal of detail to the model. LEARNING: All Lego sets have an advantage over normal toys in that they can be taken apart and built into whatever an imagination can create. Great for building creative skills. DURABILITY: Very durable - click-joint construction and lightweight frame allow this to be dropped from a considerable height onto carpet without breaking. Great toy! Very fun to play with an it always attracts people who wonder just what it is.

Watching this set take shape is probably the best part of the assembling process, with the outcome being a great-looking fighter craft. Pieces that you have to "click" into place can (sometimes) make an assembly tedious; and it's (sometimes) hard to tell what the right number of clicks is (i.e. Clone Scout Walker). But everything works perfectly here. The reason I say watching it come together is best is because with the Tri-Fighter comes tri-assembly, meaning you are doing the same thing per step, basically, three times (x3). Some people may not be bothered by this, while others may look for more variety from step to step. Nevertheless, it's not a big problem.
A Buzz-saw Droid is the Tri-Fighter's lone minifig, if you even want to call it a minifig. The only part of his body that represents a true-to-form minifig is the legs; the rest of him is just normal Lego pieces. I have a small problem with this (you may not) because minifigs, to me, are a big part of what makes or breaks a Lego set. But whatever the case may be, the Buzz-saw Droid is a rather unique figure, and he's essentially hidden in the ship's center anyway (getting him to stand up right is a bit monotonous too). Putting this 148-piece set together took a little over a half-hour. I found that with the outstretched beams, this set took up a lot of space; I started on the corner of my table and wound up having to clear most of the space off to make room. As I said, clicking the beams into place was very easy, while the end-pieces that join the three are as efficient as you'd expect from Lego. Also, this set does have a fair number of small stickers you must apply, whether or not that persuades or dissuades you.... So besides the lack of a true minifig and having to do a number of steps times three, the Tri-Fighter is a great Lego set. I highly recommend this, as one of the cheaper Episode III sets and as one of the more attractive ones. The two shades of blue and elevated durability--it has been noted you can drop this from high levels and not have to fix a thing; that is, within reason, true--make the Tri-Fighter a definite steal in the Star Wars Lego line. Give this set a "tri", and you shouldn't be disappointed.

This Lego set is one of the best! Unlike the Jedi Starfighter and the Vulture Droid, this set is very durable. If I drop it on concrete, no pieces fall apart! It is also cool with the little buzz droid that comes out of it. How is a Lego educational? Whatever the educational value might be, this is a great Lego!
