5.0 out of 5 stars Tie Fighter a nice surprise, December 4, 2000
By A Customer

This review is from: LEGO Star Wars: Tie Fighter and Y-Wing (7150) (Baby Product)
I actually originally bought this set for the Y-wing. However, I was pleasantly surprised with how cool the Tie-Fighter actually was. The Y-wing is nice, and pretty accurate, but the Tie is probably the best part. The Tie is very durable, nice and compact and lots of fun to play with. The Tie wings and the Ywing's "wings" each easily snap on and off. The Darth vader mini-fig is of course very cool, and if you take the helmet off...you see his grey scarred face. It is easy to open and fit a mini-fig into the Tie cockpit, but Vader's capes needs to be sorta squished in there. The Y-wing pilot needs to sorta slouch to fit in his cockpit. The Y-wing pilot and the R2 unit included are also very nice.

5.0 out of 5 stars THE Star Wars Set Yet Released!, May 15, 2000
By A Customer
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:3.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: LEGO Star Wars: Tie Fighter and Y-Wing (7150) (Baby Product)
This has to be the best SW Lego set released. Fun to play with, enjoyable to build and worth the money asked.

The TIE fighter is excellent. The wings move and there is one hatch that opens up to reveal a cockpit where the Darth Vader figure sits at a control pad. A little on the fragile side, this model doesn't stand up well to rough play. It is easy to build.Darth Vader himself is great, with thought going into what lies beneath the helmet (unlike our Boba Fett figure).

The Y-Wing is the Star of the Star Wars Lego fleet. I immensely enjoyed building this model as I wasn't too sure what I was building until the end. There is a hatch the lies in the back that opens (useful for Vader's lightsaber from the TIE fighter) a supply box that comes out from the middle of the plane, rotating guns on top of the cockpit, the cockpit hatch that opens and closes, joysticks for the pilot and a control pad with the TIE fighter on the screen...WOW! We get a rebel fighter figure which is thankfully not another Luke and a red R2D2. This is what we expect from LEGO.

A five star product which deserves a home in any kid or Toy Lovers house.

5.0 out of 5 stars X-1 TIE Fighter vs. Y-Wing, May 20, 2000

This is a great set! I kept wondering when they would come out with a TIE fighter. They did a pretty good job with the TIE except the wings are too wobbly. Lego should of come up with a better way to stablize the wings. It is still a great model thought. As for the Y-Wing. I was not all that impressed. It looks like something out of a 2-D drawing. It is so flat. Plus, it is missing it's proton torpedo drop. Oh well, it is still a great set.

5.0 out of 5 stars Two is better than one., November 5, 2001
= Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: LEGO Star Wars: Tie Fighter and Y-Wing (7150) (Baby Product)
It is easy to feel cheated when Lego makes you buy this double set to get Darth Vader's TIE Fighter, but the Y-Wing is good enough to soften the blow. Vader's TIE Fighter is big and durable; not underbuilt and skimpy like some of the Star Wars sets available. The Y-Wing, however, is pretty light in pieces and effect. It is very thin, and next to the other sets in the Star Wars series, it looks very small. Next to the X-Wing and Vader's TIE, it is almost comical.

This won't disappoint kids, though, and getting two opposing spaceships will provide hours of whoshing sounds and kids running around the house. Collecters will likely relegate the Y-Wing to the parts bucket.

5.0 out of 5 stars TIE vs Y wing!, November 5, 2001

In this awsome set you get to polit a TIE Fighter and a Y Wing right from Starwars! Including Darth Vader a Rebel Polit and a red R2-D2 named R5-D4, A rare droid that is similar to R2-D2! The TIE Fighter wings can be made curved or just flat. The set gives pictures of how to make large space ship, a small scout ship, a small vech, a wall rammer and a full life size lightsaber!!! The down side on that is that it doesnt have pieces to make the stick but all you need is some blue green or red blocks to make it complete! It also! gives you a little comic book in the manuel featuring the TIE Fighter, Y Wing and the other items I told you about. Great for a Starwars starter or any Lego buff!

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy this for the TIE, June 10, 2001

Hello everyone out there in internetland, this is Zippo with another toy review. I bought this toy at the end of my Star Wars craze that i went through. At the time i was very familiar with what each craft should look like, and the special TIE fighter was exactly how it should look. However when i finished the Y-wing i was very dissapointed. It's flat as a pankake! There's the top of the Y-wing and the middle, but no bottom! I fixed the problem using pieces from my own lego collection, and even built in a bomb bay using a hinged piece to hold a door over a hollow spot. The door opens and round blue pieces fall out like bombs. Some cool features of the Y-wing are the front, which is just right, and the GIGANTIC engines. All in all, this set should only be bought if you have your own legos to fix the Y-wing, otherwise just buy the regular TIE fighter set which is seperate.

5.0 out of 5 stars This set is great!, March 29, 2002

This is one of the better Lego Star Wars sets. The TIE Fighter ( Darth Vader's, cool!) is very realistic except for the blue areas that should be gray. The Y-Wing, however, is better. It comes with a really nice Rebel pilot (not Luke!) and has lots of terrific details including a storage compartment and blaster cannon. The only thing wrong is that the cockpit is a little flat. Overall this set is great and I highly recommend it. P.S. I love the R5-D4!

Imagine yourself on a planet far, far, away. No, really, you can enact your own star wars scenes when you have these vehicles. You can hang them from your ceiling in imitation of a scene from the movies. It's just so cool.

I would say both are good. The Y-wing has a good design but I would, as other people said, put a bomb bay and the shiny colored legos like the tie's laser cannons as small bombs. I think the Y-wing and tie aren't the best combo. I would put Darth Vader's tie and two normal ties in one box, and one x-wing, Y-wing, and B-wing in another.

5.0 out of 5 stars From a 12-year olds view, its grrrrrreat!, February 26, 2001

I put this on my wish list to my parents for Cristmas because I wanted the Y-wing. But I was pleasantly surprised at the Tie-fighter. It's very detailed, but the wings are a little wobbly. The Y-wing is pretty neat, too, although it was a little time consuming to assemble. And the ion cannons swivel to freely. (That can be fixed by removing the swivel piece under them, but then they won't swivel at all.) Still, they're durable and a lot of fun to play with.
