5.0 out of 5 stars Another Fun Set of LEGOS March 29, 2011

Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
Wow, i can't believe i am the first one to write a review for this game. I can see all the other 3DS games have received a few reviews, but this one. I'm gonna give this game some lovin and attention.

It is hard to review a game in words, so i am going to do my best. I wanted a game that was Mario like and since the launch titles for the 3DS were lacking a Mario and Zelda, i ended up picking this title up because i enjoy action adventure games. I didn't want Rayman 2 because it is another remake of the Rayman that was on the Dreamcast and the Rayman that was also released on the original DS Lite.

For anyone whose ever played the other installments in the Lego series (Batman, Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, etc) then one pretty much knows what's in store. The game is a great action/adventure platformer. You get to control some of your favorite Star Wars characters in this game and level one actually starts off where you control Yoda. You scroll through the levels with different objectives and things that must be collected. You can also switch between characters at anytime. In level one, Yoda can change between 2 characters and of course these characters serve a purpose. For instance, one character can swing far distances where Yoda can't, but he can levitate objects and so forth. Nice balance of utilizing players for different goals. Along the way, you'll encounter many villians that must be defeated. This game is sorta of a button masher. Of course, if you have seen the movie then you will pretty much get the layout of each round/episode. The visuals in this game are truly stunning.

I have played several Lego games on different gaming platforms, however this was the first Lego game played on my son's 3DS. My son and I both play this game and we have found it to be enjoyable with a few criticisms.

Take heed of the age rating for this game. The content is perfectly fine for the younger age kids (my son is 4) but there is quite a bit of reading which can make it difficult for the younger kids to advance in the game.

The 3D aspect to the game is done well. I am not a big 3D fan, and my son is too young to use the 3DS in 3D, but when I do turn it on I have found that it's integrated well.

My biggest criticism to the game is probably the auto saving scheme. I have found the saves to be to infrequent for my son and he ends up having to play the same level over and over again until he has mastered it. I would prefer to have an auto save at various checkpoints throughout a level.

I certainly recommend this game and would purchase it again.

3.0 out of 5 stars Diam--shiny rock in the rough October 15, 2011

LSW 3 is a pretty good game and you get your moneys worth with it, assuming you paid 20$ or less. Before i get hateful comments, i thoroughly enjoyed this title and have put in 21 hours into getting 100% on it.Lets just get the regular questions out the way, it looks great the character models are smooth and framerate is persistent, it sounds good you get your standard pew pew and music.Unfortunately the content(or lack there of) and glitches hold it back from being something more. The game has some buggy issues, one being it freezes (happened about 6 times to me), rendering all your progress void because you have to reboot your 3ds i cant tell you how annoying this is because missions are rather long and you cant save in between acts, there are also times where certain things would not be present such as a minikit not in the location it should be or a door not opening to allow to progress(this is even less common). Their rare and of course not deal breakers but problems to be aware of. If you haven't played a lego game like myself your going to play through this and have a great time seeing how creative the levels are and unlocking items and characters,if you have played the console version your going to realize you have a gimped port, its literally the same title as the DS/PSP and 10 dollars more and with 3D which at times you cant even tell its on (space battles really show it off though) its missing a huge chunk of missions and the ones you get could have been so much bigger but im assuming it was rushed for the launch of the 3DS it surely is strong enough to run the levels, still unforgivable at 40$ price tag.

speaking of which why is there no multiplayer?! Even the DS version had local multiplayer, big let down there would of loved to play this with my wife.

Even though I have never really followed the "clone wars" stories, this game is enjoyable to play and easy to follow. It is fun to play for 5 minutes or an hour. I have played a couple other Lego Star Wars games on consoles and this version lives up to its platform relatives. I'm a 24 year old male with a busy schedule, but I still find time to play this game when I can. Plus the 3D is awesome!
