4.0 out of 5 stars Great Game, Worth the cost March 29, 2011
A Kid's Review
Platform for Display:Xbox 360
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I pre-ordered this game from amazon and I am happy to say that I'm very pleased. Lego really sets a high bar with this amazing game. As said in other reviews, you can choose to follow either Ventress, Dooku, and Grievous. These can be selected at the "hub". The games have great graphics and stunning fluidity of movement. Each Jedi moves like it really should, with lightsaber moves that vary with each character. For instance, Yoda moves with the usual jumps/spins, while Obi Wan slices one way, and Anakin another. Another great feature is the vast Republic and Separatist starships. When starting, you explore the Republic Crusier (seen on TV). To go to the level selection, you look at a hologram-projector. The game sets goals for you too. In order to explore everything available, you have to get gold bricks. (Obtained through Level Completion, "Minikit" collection, and "True Jedi" Status. I have gotten enough bricks to explore almost all of the Republic Ship. My favorite part is that you can jump into AT-RTs, AT-TEs, and other ground vehicles during the large ground battles. I don't want to spoil anymore! It is too good of a game to tell everything!

NOTE: I am reviewing the Xbox 360 game only

BUY THIS GAME NOW-DEFINITELY WORTH THE COST!!!

3.0 out of 5 stars One of the most fun LEGO games, but buggy April 28, 2011
Platform for Display:Xbox 360|Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
I have played and own every other LEGO game on the X-box 360. They might be some of the best casual games that are made. They are great family games that are better with 2 people than 1. The split screen that was introduced in Indiana Jones II was a great feature that has continued on in Harry Potter and Star Was III. The new feature that is added to this game is the feel of an RTS in some levels, its kind of like Star Craft meets LEGO Star Wars.

The issue I have with this game is that it has frozen on me at least 4 times. And it is very frustrating when you are playing free play for the extras in the level and you've gotten 8/10 items and the game freezes. Other than that I have no issues with the game.

Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
Bought this for my kids because, oh my science, they played the complete saga more than any other game we have. The levels are 'hard' for little kids. Yes, it is an E10+ game, so that rating fits. But it is much more challenging than the other lego star wars games. There is a lot happening on each level and it's often very hard to see what you need to do because the camera pans our further than in previous games which makes it harder to see what needs to be done.

Graphically it's much better than the other lego star wars games and I thought the humor in it was actually pretty funny. The first level is the arena battle and the sheer amount of characters fighting here (once the droids come out) is impressive. My kids really felt caught up in the battle, which was great. In this instance you get several tutorial hints on the screen which tell you what to do. In other levels, you do not have them. While the puzzle aspect of the game certainly adds to the longevity of the game, it can be a bit frustrating to kids.

I'd reccommend this to anyone about 7 and up, whereas the other Lego Star Wars games I would say anyone from 3 and up. And in making that reccomendation I would say that it is a heck of a lot of fun. It's just a good deal more difficult than the other and yes, while you still have "unlimited lives", the direction is not as linear. This is great for anyone other than the youngest players. Also I am not a fan of the new split screen action because I think it is really disorienting and it is required for some of the puzzles in the game but my kids had no problems with it at all.

If you are a Star Wars fan over the age of 6, I think you'll really enjoy it. I give this a 4/5 mainly due to split screen and lack of direction, not because of the difficulty. The game clearly states (E10+) on the box which I think you really need to abide by in this case.

5.0 out of 5 stars Amazing "follow" to the Star Wars Lego Saga March 23, 2011
Platform for Display:Xbox 360|Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
This game is simply beautiful..and an absolute blast to play. My 6 year old son and my 10 year old daughter both love it. They did a great job with the split screen functionality which is the only thing from the saga game that caused a lot of trouble for them. Job well done again on this game..I have been a video game player for 30 years..and these games have represented some of the most well thought out and creative game play I have ever seen. You will not be sorry for buying this one for you or your kids.

5.0 out of 5 stars Another Win for Travelers Tales March 22, 2011
Platform for Display:Xbox 360|Verified Purchase
Fun: 5.0 out of 5 stars
What a great game. Traveler Tales does not disappoint with their latest release in the Star Wars franchise. All the great innovations from the past couple games (Indy 2 / Harry Potter) have been brought forward. The dynamic split screen is probably the greatest feature I've seen in these games, really made co-op play feasible in the Lego world. TT has taken it further now, allowing players to move into completely different story lines. The graphics have been amp'd up while overall the game is capable of supporting huge battles of Lego characters without bogging down.

You might grouse that it's the same old Lego shtick, but that's what makes it so much fun, beating the snot out of little Lego guys without repercussions.

Looking forward to TT's take on Pirates of the Caribbean due out in May.

3.0 out of 5 stars A Little Too Experimental January 30, 2013
Platform for Display:Xbox 360
Fun: 4.0 out of 5 stars
I love the Lego brand of games, and have played nearly all of them (Star Wars TCS, both Harry Potters, Batman, Pirates of the Caribbean).

This game was clearly experimental. On the one hand, the new RTS mode (think StarCraft) where you collect studs, build weapons, and take over territory is very fun, but it should have been a separate game altogether. The normal Lego fair (story mode and free play) definitely suffered in this game.

(1) There are levels where you have to switch between sets of characters, which is fine in one player, but is totally lame in co-op, since you have to wait for your partner to do something before you can advance, and you cannot switch over to help them if they are stuck.
(2) The vehicle levels involve sections where you have to land and exit the vehicle, which in itself is neat, but the rest of the vehicle level is too simplistic because of it.
(3) Free play was very lame. Basically, Lego just places a bunch of Dark Side objects, metallic objects, and gold objects around the level that you can totally see during story mode but cannot get until free play mode. Instead of adding new challenges and areas for free play, free play in this game just devolved into collecting the stuff you knew was there but couldn't get the first time.

Anyway, I compliment Lego for trying something new, and I am not necessarily suggesting that this game is not worth a play. The experimental stuff is certainly worth experiencing. However, you have to understand going in to it that it IS experimental and that the normal Lego elements are not as excellent as I have come to expect in the Lego line.
