Official LEGO description: Rescue Han Solo from Jabba the Hutt's desert palace! At Jabba's Palace on Tatooine, Princess Leia is disguised as Boushh as she tries to rescue Chewbacca and carbonite-frozen Han Solo. Can she get past the roof-mounted missiles, defense guns and surveillance equipment to reach them? Or will Jabba and his motley band of followers capture the princess and entrap her beneath Jabba's sliding throne?
Minifigs: Includes 9 minifigures: Jabba, Salacious Crumb, Bib Fortuna, Gamorrean Guard, Oola, Han Solo, Princess Leia in Boushh outfit, Chewbacca and B'omarr Monk.
Value: This set is mainly for collectors. Per brick/price ratio, you are paying for the minifigs (which of course will pay you back in time).
Overall rating: 4 stars, minus 1 star for the brick/price ratio and Princess Leia head.
The throne room is great too, I love the trap door. Too bad it can't fit anyone inside.
I think the reason they made it so expensive is the characters. The palace alone is only worth like 30,40,50 dollars?
Anyway, it's a great set and you should definitely get it.
warning: it takes up almost your whole day!
The minifigs in this set are great. You get Leia in her Boussh bounty-hunter disguise, Chewbacca (complete with chains), Han Solo (who snaps into a great carbonite piece imprinted with his outline), Bib Fortuna (Jabba's majordomo), Oola (the green-toned dancer), and a Gamorrean guard. There are also two unique figures -- Jabba the Hutt himself (a wonderful model), and Salacious Crumb (his capering little monkey-like creature). Finally, there is a small build for a B'omarr Monk spider-droid.
The palace build itself is divided into sections, each of which has its own polybagged pieces, making it easier to find the pieces you need (and to limit the mess created, if you're a parent who cares about such things). The build itself is quite straightforward, mixing regular Lego System elements with a few Technic parts. It is interesting and enjoyable without being challenging. Like most current-generation Lego sets, there are lots of fine, thoughtful details that you'll notice while you'll building the set, but which aren't easily seen once it's completed -- evidence of excellent design quality (and if you're a parent, a good reason why you should let your kids built the set themselves rather than being tempted to do it for them).
First, there's the entrance area; it has a blast door that can be raised and braced into place (and also dropped with a satisfyingly heavy thud), and the door is guarded by a pair of guns that can be aimed.Read more ›
That set interconnects below this one in a LEGO extravaganza -- then the dancing girl can be thrown into the pit as Jabba's platform moves back and forth, just like (dare I say?) in the movie!

This set, in my opinion, gives you the best minifigures for a Classic Star Wars LEGO set. There are a lot of new/updated figures in here with a total of 9:
Jabba - redesigned and a lot more detailed than the original.
Bib Fortuna - redesigned with a new face, head fits better over the cape, and printing is better.
Gamorrean Guard - redesigned upper body, great detail and color/printing.
Oola - New Figure - very nice printing/color
Han Solo/Carbonite - 2 sided face, one side has closed eyes. The carbonite looks to have more print on it.
Princess Leia in Boushh outfit - New Figure, great detail, printing, and color. Also comes with brown hair.
B'omarr Monk - New Figure, one piece has a LEGO hole to connect him sitting. He is pretty small figure, but cool
Salacious Crumb - Nothing new pretty basic droid type of figure.
Chewbacca - Nothing new, comes with hand cuffs.
The minifigures are all very detailed especially Jabba and the Gamorrean Guard compared to their original versions. This set has also been designed to fit on top of the Rancor Pit set that will fit this right on top of allowing them to fall through the trap door on the floor into the pit, that set will probably be released late this year or early next year. It shows that LEGO is integrating these sets with each other, which I think can give kids more to play with in these.
