5.0 out of 5 stars One of the coolest Star Wars Lego sets in a long time.

3.0 out of 5 stars Cool Star Wars ship!
My son and I looked everywhere for this toy and were so excited to finally find it on Amazon. It is a very cool ship, however, these large ships are very fragile and can fall apart easily. He loved building it (me too) but doesn't really play with it much because it's hard to handle. He really enjoys the smaller vehicles for everyday play.

I have been a Lego fan since I was a child. Adulthood took me away from the fun and enjoy of building Lego sets. However, it took these very collectible, yet fun to build, Star Wars Lego sets to bring me back. I have purchased many sets to add to my collection, but I decided to open and build the Slave I.

Quite simply, this is one of the best Lego sets you can buy, build and play with that I have seen in a long time. The instructions are detailed, and the set will take a few hours to build. When you are done, you will have one large Star Wars ship on your hands, and it will include all the details from Boba Fett's unique ship you remember from the movies.

First, Boba Fett's cockpit and wing panels are connected and rotate when you lift his ship. This makes him oriented in his seat in the correct direction, just like in the movie. There are also several moving parts, like doors to hold weapons, doors to hold what ever you want, doors to reveal missiles, guns that rotate, and a rocket launcher that can fire a missile (and it actually shoots a far distance). The nice thing about the missile system is how Lego hid the launch mechanism inside the structure. All you need to do is pull a black lever and the missile will fire. And that black lever is so well integrated into the Lego model, it looks like it is part of the ship.

You also get some Lego characters, including the man himself, Boba Fett, a frozen Han Solo, IG-88, a bounty hunter, Dengar, another bounty hunter, and a Bespin guard.

In terms of the build strength of this set, I found it to be very sturdy. The instructions make it clear what you are doing, and I had no problem with pieces coming apart from earlier steps. Boba Fett's ship is so well built and strong, when I dropped it only one wing panel came off. A word of advice: do not pick it up from the cockpit cover!

Overall, this set is very solid and well constructed. It is very detailed, and surprisingly, it is quite large when you get done building all 537 pieces. This set is well worth the price and will be a fan favorite for years to come.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Fett would be pround with this fine LEGO slave, February 17, 2007

This review is from: LEGO Star Wars Slave I (Toy)
This is a great Lego kit. First off, I am a 30 year old kid, who loves Lego bricks, and have become a big fan of the Star Wars series of Lego kits.

I assembled this kit at night in poor light, and contrary to other reviews, I have had no problems with the asembly, nor have there been any issues with it falling apart. The only problem I can see is that sometimes it's hard to follow some of the instructions with the dark bricks. It's easy to miss a brick or two. After finding my extra bricks, I went back through the instructions and replaced them, and have had no problems since. Also I tested out the cannon while the hatch is closed, and it didn't destroy the construction.

Now for the good stuff:
The rotating wing and control center for Boba Fett works great.
The Carbonite brick is cool, but you better watch out for an accidental release (i'm hunting for Solo right now, at least he is safely enclosed in carbonite, so until I find him, I know he is safe. If he surved the freezing process.
The mini figs are also great.

5.0 out of 5 stars Very awesome lego!!!, August 9, 2006
This review is from: LEGO Star Wars Slave I (Toy)
This Lego SlaveII is aweome. I'd have to say that it is the best lego set I have, Star Wars or not. It has two storage compartments, one on either side. Not too big, but you can fit like, a blaster, or some coins/jewles. It has to large DEF. Missiles that come out of a hatch on the front, and a large HG. Missile right above that. It also holds two big blasters in the front. Boba (I wish it was Jango, but hey!) Fett sits in a big cockpit, that, by the weight of the wings, lifts up or goes down, depending on wether you are putting it down, or lifting it up. A hatch opens in the back of it, and two SC's (Siesmic Charges) fall out. (NOTE: Not like the Ark 17-0). It comes with Han Solo in carbonite, a mechanicle droid bounty hunter called IG-88, and it come with (my favorite) Dengar!!! Bonus: It comes with a Bespin gaurd too! It is quite sturdy, for how big it is, you can fly it around however you want without braking it, if you hold it in the right place. Overall, it is the most amazing lego I have ever had. Don't mind the price tag, it's definately worth it. Well, good luck shopping!
P.S. For this, hee, hee.

4.0 out of 5 stars GREAT improvement/set, July 2, 2006
This review is from: LEGO Star Wars Slave I (Toy)
I remeber when the Slave One came out in about 2000. It was utterly disappointing, it was way too small. Lego has an outstanding new revision here.

The new Slave 1 has a very sleek design and is very cool! It has alot of cool features;like a hidden missile in the stomach, Two rockets in the sides, bombs in the rear, and loads of opening sockets and such. Very cool, even if it isn't all that true to the movie version. This ship is also surprisingly strong, you can hold it without breaking it and swoosh it without breaking it. There are huge gaps where the wings are, but they aren't greatly visible, unlike the Clone Turbo Tank.

You would expect Boba and Han in carbonite but Lego once again outdo themselves. Included are both Dengar and IG-88(bounty hunters) and a bespin guard! More than I asked for. Some things I didn't like are the smilies; Dengar is a ruthless bounty hunter...with a warm smile. The Bespin Guard looks more ready to invite you to a dinner than fight you. IG-88 suffers from that all too common battle-droid problem, holding your gun to the side. Battle droids aren't gangsters...

Overall a great set with a few minor problems. Don't be afraid of the price tag, it's definately worth it.

Amazon Verified Purchase(What's this?)
This review is from: LEGO Star Wars Slave I (Toy)
I have helped my son assemble many of the Lego Star Wars series of toys. He had been asking for this particular model--the Slave I--for half a year. The trouble is, none of the local stores carry it. Even the local Lego store fails to keep it in stock, so I purchased it through Amazon.com.

It is a fun project, with a number of working parts. The model is complex, and this intricacy adds to the fun.

The main trouble, though, is the instructions. Unlike all the other Lego Star Wars models we have put together, this one does not list the parts needed at the top of each page. As a result, it is sometimes tricky to determine exactly which pieces are used in any given page. One has to examine the illustration on each page very carefully, to see which pieces are being added on that page. It is easy to miss added pieces, unless one flips back and forth between pages.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lego fixes its old problems, May 24, 2006
= Durability:4.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:4.0 out of 5 stars
This review is from: LEGO Star Wars Slave I (Toy)
This toy was very surprising indeed. Before the prequels, they made the trilogy sets, but not as well. Then after they make all the prequel sets, they went back to fix the original problems of the first sets. I was a major consumer of the old lego SW sets. I have a number of them, from the MelLenium (Sorry, forgot how its spelled)Falcon, all the way to the old Slave 1. I liked the old Slave one at first, but i soon relized it was not a very detailed set. When they remade the Jango Version, i was still abit disapointed with its durabilty and detail. But when this one came out, being the HUGE Boba Fett fan that i am, i had to go out and buy it. After spending a high $50 price tag, i went home to construct it. I tell you....i wasnt disapointed. This one was alot more detailed then the previous two. It was well worth the money and it is proudly on my big red collecting shelf. This Set is definantly a five star set.

5.0 out of 5 stars Lotsa pieces - a good challenge, May 11, 2006
= Durability:3.0 out of 5 stars  = Fun:5.0 out of 5 stars  = Educational:5.0 out of 5 stars

This is very well thought out and complex Lego model. My 6 year old rec'd it as a gift and was able to construct it 80% without any help. He then realized that he used some pieces in the wrong place and re-started construction. Although he got somewhat frustrated, with a little help, he was able to complete the model after 3 days of work. Two/three of the instruction images were a bit off. It's a bit brittle to play with, but very enjoyable for him to tinker with it while on a table with other Lego SW models. He loves it and is very proud of his accomplishment in construction.

This is definitely the best Lego kit I've ever seen.

4.0 out of 5 stars lego star wars slave 1, January 15, 2007
This review is from: LEGO Star Wars Slave I (Toy)
This was purchased as a Christmas gift for my grandson who is 6 years old. He is very adept at putting together lego units and I was advised by his parents to get him something above a 10 year old mentality. So, I picked this product. His parents were pleased and to my knowledge my grandson has already put this unit together.

5.0 out of 5 stars Awesome LEGO set for all Star Wars Fans!, November 8, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: LEGO Star Wars Slave I (Toy)
This set is awesome. It has a few hidden weapons (the missles and bombs)inside, and it comes with 5 minifigures (counting Han Solo in Carbonite)! The exterior is very detailed. It looks just like the model in LEGO Star Wars II. The interior is pretty basic: One seat for Boba. I wish LEGO had put in more seats for the other minifigures, but I guess they didn't want it or think about it. The minifigures that are actively usable (the ones with arms, legs and a head) are: Dengar (ruthless bounty hunter, appeared in episode V- The empire strikes back and episode VI- Return of the Jedi), IG-88 (bounty hunter droid, appeared in episode V- The empire Strikes Back), Bespin Guard (one of the hman defenses for bespin, appeared in Star Wars V- The Empire Strikes Back), and Boba Fett (son of Jango Fett, appeared in Star Wars episode V and VI- The Empire Strikes Back and Return Of The Jedi). This set is very durable (even thought the wings aren't so stable), and you can hold it just about anywhere, and if the wings fall, they are very easy to get back on. This set is a definite must have for all Star Wars fans, and even though the price tag is very large, it is the best one because on all other sites, it is either this price or larger. All LEGO and LEGO Star Wars fans should get this, beacuse it's a great addition to your LEGO collection!

5.0 out of 5 stars A Truly Amazing Set!, August 21, 2006
A Kid's Review
This review is from: LEGO Star Wars Slave I (Toy)
This is easily one of the greatest sets I own.

Let's start with the exterior. The detail is great. LEGO obviously wasted no time making this. It has a few hidden compartments and a hatch that drops seismic charges. It is also extremely durable. You can hold it just about any way and it won't break. The wings are a little flimsy, as with most LEGO SW ships, but they won't really break or fall off (and if they do they're easy to fix).

The interior is about what one would expect. It has a seat for Boba, and that's about it. Although I found it a little disapointing that it couldn't hold multiple figures, 1 seat is really all you need.

On to the minifigures. As one would expect this set to only come with Boba, it also includes Dengar, the bounty hunter droid IG-88, and a Bespin guard. Excellent asortment of minifig's.

Ignore the price on this set, it's a defenit must-have!
