I was amazed by the beauty of Lego's X-Wing Fighter. This ship is truly the most faithful adaptation of a Star Wars craft, and is a sight to behold. In terms of realism, it easily surpasses any other spaceship in the Lego collection. The techs at Lego are also to be praised for the ship's functionality. The wings open and close using standard Lego ratchet-hinges, which allows them to lock in either position. The hatch opens easily and gives easy access. R2-D2 is also present and fits snugly in his compartment, right where he should be. There are even two cargo spaces, to store lightsabers, etc.

I suppose my judgment is biased by that fact that I think the X-Wing Fighter is the most attractive spacecraft in the entire Star Wars movie series (with the possible exception of Queen Amidala's transport), but I cannot imagine a Lego enthusiast passing this up. And, hey! -- your kids will like it, too!

I have to start off by saying the X-Wing is one of my all time favorite ships - so this review may be a bit biased. That said, this is a great first Star Wars Lego set. It has great play value and looks cool to boot. It comes with three figures and a few extras, including storage areas in both the nose and tail of the ship and the little service/transport cart. The set is fairly straightforward and easy to build and has a number of pieces that make building your own creations that much nicer. I highly recommend this set.

As a 25 year-old architect, I found myself in a bit of a pickle when I saw this Lego set at a local store. Part of me (the adult) debated the cons about spending money on a Lego set. Another part of me (the kid) said, 'That has got to be the coolest thing I have ever seen! I want it! Gimme! Gimme!' But, the kid in me finally won out and made me buy it. I was not disappointed. It is a bit much to pay for a Lego set, but the accuracy is there (the wings open and close and there's even a little R2-D2) as is the fun-factor (I actually flew it around my house making whooshing and laser sounds). I grew up playing with both Legos and Star Wars, so this was a dream come true. I don't collect the figures anymore (Mom threw those out years ago - darn it!) but I do love the movies and like to collect the art books. I was very surprised when I saw these at the store and something sparked inside me. Maybe it was The Force. I haven't been too turned on by the new Episode 1 Lego sets, but the classic ones are a must for any fan. I also bought the Speeder Bike set and the Snow Speeder set. Very cool. I heard that there is a Millenium Falcon set coming out in the future. I'd better start saving my money.

I love this set! the x-wing is fun to play with, and you can change pilots because you have biggs and luke. i like the little mechanic and fixer upper hover thingy with the tools. this is a great set for starwars fans! The one thing i dont like about it is the landing gear, why did the back have to be a chunk instead of two of the sled pieces? other than that its great, a must-buy.

My 6 year old son built this lego in one session by himself (until the wing assembly) and hasn't stopped flying it around the house since. Although it has some parts that can fall off easily, he can repair it quickly without much difficulty. We love this design!!!

The X-Wing Fighter set by Lego is very well designed. It comes with Luke Skywalker and ground crew. Its wings can close or extend to the "x-wing" pattern. One drawback is the storage case for the lightsaber: it tends to slide out easily. I've seen other Lego sets designed a lot better where a part like that is more secure. And if I really had my way, I'd like to see just the X-Wing by itself offered by Lego with a generic pilot or even a deluxe version with sound effects (like the Lego space shuttle).

This X Wing model is a must for any Star Wars Lego collector. The final product is an amazing replica. For adult toy enthusiasts, this model is VERY EASY to put together and would take no more than 15min. The price is a little expensive for the amount of building involved. There are a few moving parts like the wings and two hatches on the fighter(but these have nothing in them).The mechanic train is an enjoyable addition and excited me since it did not use wheels(!).This model is also very durable. This model can be easily displayed.

Although I'm a 35-year-old professional, I think that toys are absolutely necessary for good mental health. I have 8 different LEGO models in my office, and each one has sparked a different conversation. I also collect Hot Wheels and Maisto scale cars, and I have been caught zooming them around more than once! This particular set is one of my favorites, because it has that universal appeal that George Lucas seems to tap into at will. If you are a Star Wars fan, or a LEGO fan, or both, you will enjoy this set.

This toy is very realistic, with opening wings. It has about 260 pieces, but not very hard to build. My favorite part is the droid, R2D2 that comes with it. (You can also get the droid on the Naboo Star Fighter.) I think the cockpit has improved over the old ones.

I never thought that I could ever get this set cause it is so hard to find now.

Well, I like my X-wing a lot. This is my fifth star wars lego collection, and from the five sets that I have (Desert Skiff, Naboo Fighter, Flash Speeder, and A-Wing Fighter) this is the best one.
Plan to get snowspeeder for the next set, heard from review that this is a good set also.
