We purchased this item as a birthday gift for a 6 year old boy. He went NUTS when he opened it and pretty much ignored everything else. His Mom still reports that it's a huge hit and his younger brothers try to get in on the action too. Would definitely recommend and will buy other LEGO items when my little guy is big enough to enjoy/understand.

This was fun to create and play with. there are 5 different sections to create, and most of them have some lever or gear to help kids understand moving parts and simple machines a little. I did it with my two kids, taking turns with assembly. If I had to do it over again, I would have given each of them a different section (with this project you can basically create each section out of order or at the same time and then assemble at end). The claw and conveyor belt work well and are quite durable. When playing or moving the supports often come off, which can be easily fixed, but a little frustrating for young children. For the price, you get a lot of toy in both the assembly and in play. You get Woody, Hamm, Lotso, and two aliens with plenty of places and ways for them to interact with each other and the machinery, so it's a great play toy to recreate and extend the story.

My son got this toy for Christmas and actually put it together while the rest of us watched Toy Story 3! It was so funny, because he was finishing it just as this scene from movie came on. It is a nice set & I like the conveyor belt and that the mini figures are dirty LOL! A great addition to his ever expanding Lego collection!

This toy took me about 2 hours to put together. My child helped for awhile but quickly got bored. Let it be known she is only 5 and just wanted to play with it all put together. Some of the pieces are tiny! There is no base to put all the piece on to hold them so the two towers (one with a crane) kept falling over and coming apart which was frustrating. My daughter does enjoy playing with it when it is all together but it takes some effort to keep it that way. It's definitely for older kids but we are still enjoying the playing with it.

We bought this for Christmas for my 8 y/o son who loves Legos. He was VERY excited and spent Christmas morning putting it together. He loves it and is still playing with it! However, whenever I try to move it it falls apart. Oh well - that's just how Legos are I guess. Kinda pricey for what you get, but overall a good purchase.

I spent a small amount of time putting this set together for my daughter (8 yrs) after she opened it on christmas. It was not more than 5 minutes before she got frustrated because the crane kept falling over and breaking apart or the control tower would crumble because the supports would not hold any pressure to put the guys on them. After a couple of hours it just got put away. Any time after that she asked I hesitated on putting it together because I knew I would be rebuilding the sets more than she would be playing with them. I eventually glued the non-movable pieces together for her and now she can play with it no problem. She does not have to worry about the crane falling apart when it falls over or the tower shattering when she puts a guy on it. I reccomend getting a base plate to build the sets on so that they will stand and gluing the crane and tower together piece by piece with super glue. I would not let any small children play with the set as there are to many tiny pieces.

I bought this product for my daughter's birthday present. But she complained missing piece. So I made an exchange and got a new box very soon. Unfortunetly , she said she couldn't find some piece again. So finally, I decided to return it and never buy it again. Anyway, amazon's service is really good.

It's an incinerator, not a compactor =p,

The educational value of the toy is marred by calling something that clearly is an incinerator, a compactor, which no doubt will confuse all the children who decide on a life in waste processing, based on an erroneous childhood idealism of 'playing with fire for a living'. When I think of the first day on the job for some poor kid, who takes a job at a compactor plant, in anticipation of burning things, oh the misery. That said, it's a fun little lego set, easily assembled, and with a reasonable bit of actual play value. They include plenty of string for the crane, so it can be re-used on a larger tower, in ones own creations. |
